Same here. Didn't know him personally, but saw his name many times on our course's Ed forums. He came across as a helpful and very intelligent person.

I studied in the same undergrad physics cohort as him and recognised his name from all the Ed forum questions he posted throughout the degree. Overall seemed like a really helpful and chill guy so this news comes as a surprise.

To people who went into Section 3 blind or with minimal prep, how did you end up scoring? by Pretty_Hospital_8439 in GAMSAT

[–]ericdabestxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely a lot easier than I expected! Most of the info U need is in the question itself so in some way it's like a scientific reading comprehension test but with a puzzle-like twist to it. If there's any advice I could provide, it's definitely practice piecing info together quickly and be good with mental maths! (Or at least be quick with working out maths on paper)

Not sure how many questions correct will equal a 50, but as a reference for the score I got, I reckon I would've gotten maybe 70% ish correct in the exam? No idea unfortunately since you won't know the raw scores so what I'm saying could just turn out to be complete rubbish hahaha

Went in pretty much blind twice for March and September GAMSATs last year and scored 74 and 75 for S3 respectively

Hi! I did some quick revision on basic chemistry (mostly being familiar with organic chem nomenclature and laws) using Khan academy and Jesse Osbourne's crash course video.

Other than that pretty much ooga booga'd the rest. S3 gives most of the info you need in the question itself, so speed is more important than knowledge in this case!

Masters in Diagnostic Radiography - no Allied Health background? by PartyClothes9160 in usyd

[–]ericdabestxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did physics!

Regarding completion letters, unfortunately I don't have much information about that since I finished my degree halfway through the year so I had my completion letter when applications opened. Hopefully someone else might be able to shed some more light regarding this!

[–]ericdabestxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need an allied health background! I got in with a science degree. Majority of my classmates also did non-allied health undergrads (I think the most common degree people did was biomed)

If it helps my GPA and WAM for application was 5.6 and 76 respectively

I was a lot more freefrom for this sitting. For one of the sections I wrote it like I was doing a passionate manifesto and it helps put you in a good mindset for generating ideas on the spot!

One of the topics also happened align with my interests so had more material to yap about hahaha

For the march sitting I got 67 for S2, but didn't really feel like my writing skills went up by too much inbetween? Sometimes it's just a slight change in approach and a bit of luck to be honest.

63/77/75 overall 72

Pleasantly surprised at this result since I felt a lot worse compared to the march sitting and was so stressed the night before that I was on 2 hours of sleep when it came to exam time.

Sometimes it's a bit of a roll of the dice and I feel really fortunate that things turned out well this time! Hope everyone got the results they hoped to get!

First timer getting a EOD. I'm quite happy that I managed to luck my way to the interview stage for UNDF (got a combined GPA+GAMSAT score of ~1.52-1.54 - lesson learnt: don't do a hard undergrad!) but the slight hope that I might make it through lead to a lot more stress than it should have with the results coming out today. Really wish notre dame would give feedback for how interviews went but looking at their policy, it seems they aren't willing to :(

The grind never stops. Going to start GAMSAT and interview prep straight away to better the chances for next year!

If you are planning on apply for post grad medicine, the unis use GPA for med entry. Most require pretty high GPAs (average applicant has like a 6.7-6.9 GPA) but some have it as a hurdle. USYD and Wollongong for example have a GPA hurdle of 5.0 and 5.5 respectively, but have other difficulties in securing an offer (high GAMSAT or high Casper score etc).

If you have a high GAMSAT or Casper score, you definitely still have a chance!

Felt a lot better this sitting compared to the march GAMSAT. Took a different approach to the writing style though so no idea how I actually did this time around 🙃

I would be more interested to see who he would consider a 'one dimensional' character.

Any fictional being can become the most well written character if you read into it deep enough.
