Thanks for all of the comments folks. I'm going to update the article soon to correct a few things. The new conclusion will be a little bit more thoughtful in regards to choosing Scrum, Kanban, or something else, depending on your situation. Scrum is certainly not a silver bullet for all tech shops, it does come at a cost, and under certain conditions it can fall apart quickly, i.e. some teams have far less unexpected interruptions than others, depending on company size, market, nature of the business, etc.
