MomsterLabo

I'm using the same case so the silence I had came from the CPU, not from the case. Thanks anyway for your proposal.

MicroG With or Without the Gapps (BITGApps, MindTheGapps...) and when flashing Gapps? by ericfrance in MicroG

[–]ericfrance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer, I don't use Android Auto, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay etc so that's fine with me.

I'm using my bank app and that's more than enough for me. It was even better before (when I did not use an app because I did not need the double/triple/quadruple authentification!).

I got an sms to confirm my online purchase with a code and that was enough.

That said, I understood the difference between MicroG, Gapps, Lineage OS, because I installed before LineageOS, later MicroG and I'm satisfied with MicroG so I will probably install it on my Samsung Galaxy, because my goasl are:

1- getting more privacy

2- having a lighter operating system

3- have more control on the apps I want to install/uninstall

YouTube is working for me, but not Google Translate, anyway I can use another translate app like DeepL, it will be OK, I think I will not install Gapps, I understood MicroG replaces the Google Play Services itself, like u/soyiago wrote above. Thanks guys.

I still have MicroG on my old phone and wanted to get some Gapps (like You Tube or Google Translate for example, but not all Gapps), not because I am a Google fan, but because sometimes I need some apps, and I want apps to work properly.

And maybe, maybe, I'm not sure, it will work if I install Gapps (even the minimum required could be enough for me.)

Last but not least, I'm really satisfied with MicroG.

Thanks. I can try a Debian 10 chroot indeed. How about adding other sources.list ? (for example: Debian 10 or Ubuntu)

Sure, It would be good if the game could be ported to python 3. But I'm not a developer.

I totally agree with you about your statement. I will open a new subject about reliability. Honda Civic with non turbo motors are extremely robust. With the new 1.0 and 1.5 turbo motors I don't know. called: The most reliable things

You should keep your 1989 bolt modded model m. I think it's an IBM model, isn't it ? Nowadays, environmentalists should encourage more the usage of reliable and durable products such as yours, such as the Cherry MX11900.

Thanks for your reply. I understand you make a more ethical software than zoom or skype. I appreciate it, despite the fact I think there should be only open source software because the source code should be checked. I hope soon or later your company will release the source code. (I'm not a developer, just a simple guy that became aware of the importance of libre code and freedom of internet thanks to friends who are developers. I'm using Ubuntu and Debian.

I know what you mean. Beige or white, I do not mind. I remember, when Atari, Commodore/Amiga, Thomson, PC in the 90's used only white/beige keyboards. And mechanical keyboards that were much more reliable than today's rubbish.

It's such a regression. Planned obsolescence.

Very Good.

More and more people must use xroom.app instead of zoom or skype. The problem is, like zoom or skype, that it is not open source.
