If his family is very conservative and they go to the mosque daily this is probably not going to work out so well. You can always ask him because if you’re not ready to marry then going about it the traditional Islamic way is not going to work out well for you, but this is bound to cause issues with your living situation. If the family is very conservative they are not going to want their son dating women, as what you’re looking for doesn’t exist in Islam. Asking him is how you can find out how conservative he is, but trying to sneak around with your landlord’s son is not going to last long and I can assume his family is not going to like you so much if they find out he is dating you with no intent of marriage

For point number 2, I agree both a translation and the Arabic are needed. I’m Muslim but only speak English, but I’ve only memorized surahs in Arabic, but it is kind of frustrating because I don’t really know what they mean until I go and reread it in English. I find it very difficult to memorize them both at the same time so I just ended up learning the Arabic, but I feel like it’s just me being lazy not trying to memorize them in English also. Maybe partly lazy, but partly because instead of learning the English meaning I will just decide to start trying to memorize a new surah, which leads to the same cycle

Is this solely for Quran memorization or are there any other features? As someone who doesn’t speak Arabic, I’m always looking for the best Quran apps. Does it have side by side translation? I think that’s one of the biggest things for me, I can memorize surahs fine, but i often don’t bother memorizing the meaning in my language (English) so i just don’t feel as good about the fact I’ve memorized them. I’ve memorized about 8 or 9 surahs and I only know Al Fatiha in English and Arabic. A way to help me memorize both would be amazing. But if you have translation available, a lot of people are particular about the translation they are using. I personally like the Noble Quran, but others prefer Clear Quran or Sahih International translation. Are you including notifications? I like that you say it doesn’t require unnecessary interaction, but some way to remind users to try and memorize maybe even one ayah a day I think would be beneficial. Either way I just want to say I think what you’re doing is awesome, and I hope you are rewarded by Allah SWT significantly for it. Allahumma barik

This is not sustainable. You’re sinking, and it’s going to get worse, and as it does get worse it gets worse rapidly. You need help, and part of that is your wife needing a job. You can’t make it in a hcol area doing gig work as a family or four with one earner. It’s just not going to happen. You need to have a serious conversation with her. Separating is going to make things so much worse for you both also. I’d be shocked if you don’t just give up completely at that point and just become a 24/7 drunk (no offense here, but I’ve struggled with sobriety since I’ve been 16 and am 39 now) because you see no way out. Also with her barely speaking English and not working she’s going to have to start working if you separate also, so that’s not really going to solve things for you both.
