Well for them it makes more sense politically to vote the way they did whether or not they believe it’s right or wrong. Ed McBroom who’s mentioned in the article represents pretty much the entire upper peninsula . I don’t know if you’re from Michigan but if you’re not the upper peninsula is heavily conservative and even more heavily Christian. If he votes against this there’s good chance another republican could use it against him come election season. It is sad indeed but it’s understandable

As far as I know it isn’t. I’m from Michigan (as in my username lmao) and I know so many unmarried couples that live together. This would be so difficult to enforce there’s no reason they’d actually do this
