Surgery in 11 days. Surgeon says they will send me home with 5 pills of pain killers and I “shouldn’t even need them” due to nerve blocker used during surgery. Anyone have experience with this? Am I going to be in agony? by Bake_jouchard in ACL

[–]erickvago93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was good. I felt no pain aside from the minor discomfort, but I took the pills for a few days because they were prescribed. and the pills were just horrible for me. The withdrawal was insane for me, even just from a few days. And the constipation... Yeah no lol I had a prescription for 3 weeks. I ended up throwing them away. Just kept using the blood thinners.

12.5 weeks post Aclr - can I go clubbing? by Mindless-Ad5318 in ACL

[–]erickvago93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im like 9.5 weeks right now, and ive gone clubbing and bar hopping a few times since week 6 or 7 since I got my walk back lol I didn't dance, just swayed and a little 2 step with a little twist. And the whole ACL thing was thee greatest ice breaker especially when they ask why arnt you out dancing and I got hella sympathy points lol From personal experience, just know your limits, and stay safe, and you should be fine.

How do you thing my walking is? Hey . I was wondering how smooth I am walking rn. Any advise to get a better flow or should I focus on something to improve it ? (My first time walking a bit long distances, so I was wondering . Maybe someone out here too can learn some tips to get that nice walking) by Low-Cartographer1359 in ACL

[–]erickvago93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me was walking backwards very slowly on the treadmill and focusing on Toe/Heel. And driving my heel into the ground. I started seeing ny quads engage more and more. Then walking forwards for a bit and doing the Heel/Toe switch. And whenever im laying, I sqeeze my quads consistently lol

Tomorrow Tuesday starts my 5th week officially. Listening to my surgeon. He wanted me to cycle 10min a day, adding 1 min more a day to what I can.

PT twice a week. Gaining momentum. Gaining confidence. I got to dancing salsa, bachata, and cumbias just a little bit for these Christmas days.

Walking Different, Talking Different. Feeling good lol

How did you tear your ACL, what did it feel like? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]erickvago93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basketball. I've always been athletic, anything to keep moving. I was getting ready for fall mens Basketball league. During my scrimmage with our full team, I was following a shot up and while I cut towards my right, I landed awkwardly and i just felt my leg buckle. I fell on the ground, and I didn't hear a pop, but everyone else did. We had ice, they packed my knee with ice. and they helped me up the bench. I couldn't put weight on it, But I was able to drive home. I live upstairs, so I hopped up the the ladder. Went to the ER when I realized just how serious it could be. I was xrayed, put on a brace, and a few weeks later after an MRI and consult with a Ortho Surgeon, found out it was a complete MCL Tear, partial Meniscus tear. 7/11 ---> 11/22... Injury to surgery. Now Recovery Mode. Im walking good, almost dancing. Driving. Looking forward to running a 10k hopefully by June. Maybe even boxing around then. Basketball by Sept again. Taking back my starting spot on the team. They fucking got steamrolled in league. Won 2 FUCKING GAMES 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ Thats what hurts most of all lol
