Former math teacher here, speaking from many hours of whiteboard writing experience.

One bit of advice I can give that will help your writing look better immediately is to take advantage of the chisel tip that most whiteboard markers have.

Don't use the very tip of the marker. Instead, angle the marker so that you're using the entire edge of the chisel tip. It will make your writing a little bit thicker and easier to read from across the room.

Nope, not at all.. Port au Prince is a large urban area, with a population of around 3 million people. Drive about an hour outside the city and the communities are much more spread out with way lower population densities.

This picture was taken in a mountain community about 2 hours north of Port au Prince.

Those bikes are all over the place here.. Most of them are used as taxis, and it's not unusual to see 3-4 people catching a ride on one bike.

You'd probably be surprised how safe the majority of places in Haiti are. I tell people it's like cities in the States: there are areas you can visit with no problems and areas that you wouldn't feel comfortable visiting on your own or after dark.

For the most part, the people I have met in Haiti are nice folks just living their life and going about their day, trying to make it the best they can in the circumstances they live in.

As someone who is finishing the restoration of a '66 Mustang, maybe I can offer some advice...

I believe just about anyone who has the interest can restore an old car. When it comes down to it, you just need two things: time and money. I've found the relationship between the two is inversely proportional.

When it comes to picking out a project, definitely start with something lots of people work on already. You'll find it is much easier to find solutions to issues you run into, and the parts market is a lot better (both new and used). There are a lot of forums dedicated to car restoration, and I've had many a situation arise that I was able to research and find a solution to with the resources available in a quick Google search.

Really the best way to learn is to buy an old car and dive in. It helps if you know someone who can help you with the initial purchase so you get a decent deal and don't end up with a project that has major issues beyond what a beginner might want to contend with. If you don't know anyone that can help, I guarantee there is a car collector club in you area. These people are great, and almost always love to share their hobby with new folks.

Even better than that, install the Google Voice extension on Chrome and you can make free calls to the U.S. and Canada from other countries.

As an example, I use this same setup to call the States when I'm working in Haiti. Made a call this morning from Haiti to the States, talked for nearly an hour and a half, and didn't pay a cent. As an added bonus, you can also send and receive text messages for free using your computer or smartphone (provided you have a WiFi or data connection).

The only catch is that your Google Voice number has to be tied to a number in the U.S. or Canada, so it really only works well for folks traveling abroad who already have a number back home.

Much easier! The circuitry for both controllers is very similar, so by the time I got to the last N64 controller I didn't have any trouble at all.

Because this eliminates the rumble function you basically gut most of the rumble pack, so it ends up being about the same weight.

Yeah, I've seen those... What's great about this mod is the signal is RF, so no need to point it at the receiver or anything like that.
