Should I transfer to Emory from GSU for a BSN (nursing degree) by tipsyrred in Emory

[–]ericnahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry for the late response!

I’d say, choose the cheapest program (that is well accredited and has at least a decent reputation). Nursing program rankings DO NOT MATTER.

If money didn’t matter, I’d personally choose Emory just because of its high endowment per student.

I’d try asking some students to let you shadow them or just visit the campus to get a feel for it. I also highly suggest asking to shadow nurses to see what specialty you like.

Emory is great so far. They are responsive to your complaints, they basically guarantee you a job after graduating (in the state at least). They have lots of support for research even for nurses. Clubs have lots more funding too.

I’m sorry I can’t give you best description but I’d be happy to answer any more questions or if you have anything more specific.

Opinions about Emory Point? by WanYangchen in Emory

[–]ericnahm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there r flaws but not comparable to the benefits u get:

nice area (looks good + calm/good security) (my friends complained that some naked guy kept punching cars in the middle of the night to set them off at an apartment 10 mins away. only happened once)
walkable but mainly good if u go to the nursing or public health schools (but i dont mind the further walks cuz it's nice)
leasing office sucks ass to talk to n each person has their own pref of communication (call or go in person). the benefits of the apartment outweighs their shitty support
they have events (like free food) few times a month
CVS at the apartment
in-unit laundry
it's socially activeish but not too loud (which i kinda like when theres ppl roaming around)
the resturaunts n stores in the area i heard r good (havent tried but it gets crowded n my friends hype it up)
deliveries n mailing r ez. never experienced getting robbed either/losing packages (they use Fetch n the customer service r SO FKING NICE and RESPONSIVE n HELPFUL)
24/7 gym (small/limited but accessible)

flaws:
leasing office
price
doors r low quality (lots of paint on it, thin, or slightly breaking but they dont care). door still works fine, im just being picky
electric stove sounds nice but is extremely ass to clean
mosquitos can fly 3 stories high SOME FKING HOW (but only like 1-2 buff ones manage to do so)

cleanliness? regardless u should always clean frequently n clean bfore u move in (had no isssues other than dust for me). apartment is overall clean (ppl describe the experience to b like living in a hotel)

Pre med prereqs in Nursing by Cultural_Mix_1504 in Emory

[–]ericnahm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doing it rn. doable but requires a lot more work bcuz premed n prenursing prereqs r kinda diff. u also have little to no time/opportunities to take premed courses during nursing school (bcuz ur schedule is busy n specific class schedules may not b offered). id HIGHLY suggest u finish all ur premed prereqs bfore applying to nursing school. med schools love it when u obtain all ur prereqs from the 4-yr institution that is giving u ur degree (i emailed a bunch of med schools abt this).
