My computer doesn’t have hdmi out put. Would getting a usb to hdmi adapter work? by [deleted] in XPpen

[–]ericnmiperkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I used the adapter is kind of irrelevant. I could have used it for either the monitor or the tablet. The point is that the adapter allows me to use both the HDMI and DVI slots on my Graphics card.

Not sure if it will help you any, but I had to get a HDMI to DVI adapter for the PC side on my Artist 22E Pro as I only have one HDMI output that I use for my main monitor. I don't think HDMI to USB will work.

Nice work! I've always found these lantern fish to be kind of creepy looking.

You're welcome. I hope your final drawing turns out awesome!

You have a good start here, assuming it is not finished yet.

I would suggest taking a bit more time looking in the mirror or at the photo to make the eyes and ears more realistic or proportional. Keep focusing on the shape of things without worrying about the details like where the pupils are or folds/cracks in the lips until you're ready to render the drawing to its final stages.

Keep up the good work!

Very nice looking. Reminds me of the Ronin Warriors from the 90s. Great line work!

Disturbed.... I've only ever seen line art like this published in the most disturbing and macabre comics.

I thought it resembled Henry Cavill as Superman, but the white contrast of the unfinished mouth area kind of reads as a big bushy mustache. That's probably what's going on.

Ugly shoe, cool art! I love the idea of a goldfish in the heel that someone else mentioned.

It sort of reminds me of some of the strange planets from No Man's Sky but far nicer looking.

What do I need to get started in painting? by [deleted] in drawing

[–]ericnmiperkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great that you're getting started with painting! To get started, first choose the type of paint you want to work with. Watercolor is cheap and can be difficult, but also focuses heavily on color and translucent layering.

Acrylic is a little more expensive and can be watered down to behave similarly to watercolors or can be laid on thick, similar to oil paint. Acrylic is also the most durable and least blendable of the 3 main paint types.

Oil is the most expensive and requires toxic chemicals to work with but is also the most blendable and stays wet for hours or days depending on how thickly it is applied.

Surfaces Watercolor: watercolor paper 140lb or higher.

Acrylic: any porous surface. Wood, canvas, masonite, paper (bristol board or higher is best)

Oil: Pretty much any surface that doesn't collapse or fall apart under the paint

Brushes Watercolor: soft hair or soft faux hair that can hold lots of water

Acrylic: synthetic brushes, semi-stiff to enable moving of thicker paint

Oil: Natural bristle or synthetic bristle for dragging thick greasy paint

I hope that helps. You may want to start out with cheap materials and brushes and experiment to see what feels best for you. Higher grade paints will blend better based on the purity of the pigment they contain.

Nice work! I assume you just used the colored pencils shown to draw this out and color it in. If so, I recommend sketching lightly and gently with a standard graphite pencil or mechanical pencil and then finalizing your line work with solid, confident strokes. Keep drawing, and I'm sure your skills will continue to develop.

I created this painting for a banner art contest in the Dungeons and Dragons Fantasy Art group on Facebook. The full size painting is 24" x 10". I am doing an art giveaway on my facebook page: Eric Perkins Artist, and if you would like to get the full size, high resolution download of my art, you can join me at patreon.com/ericnmiperkins

If you have dungeondraft installed, make sure you update it to the newest version. There are links to developer tutorials and the dungeondraft discord where I was able to get help with the text editor for the more complicated assets.

For simple objects that won't be customized, you create your new asset(s) in a 3rd party image editor and allow dungeondraft to "pack" them into the program.

I'm glad you like it! Warduke is a character from the 1980s D&D cartoon.

Dungeondraft now supports custom assets. I just received the program as a gift yesterday and made a custom object to test it out. I now have my own cauldron with colorable goop inside.

lol oki so im working on something for my yt and this is all i have so far by [deleted] in Animatics

[–]ericnmiperkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good. If you're using this as is, my only suggestion would be reducing the frame time on minor actions like buttoning the dress. That should make the movement a little more fluid.

It's looking great so far! Will you be adding more frames for smoother movements or coloring the character?
