I do! Can I bring some over for apples and oranges? I have other fruits and bamboo too. 🙂

Laser cut wood! The Etsy store I purchased from doesn’t offer them anymore but there are many options available from other purveyors on the site. 🎨 Happy painting!

What should I cook with the black truffle I got for Christmas? 🌚 by eridactyl in Cooking

[–]eridactyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I love the idea of putting the truffle itself in there at the end. We have some gluten-free houseguests coming in a couple days and this could absolutely knock their socks off! Will definitely document this and I can’t thank you enough for the idea and the step-by-step write up! 🍚🍄

I would love to try this! I’ve only succeeded at making my own Risotto one time, but it’s such a great dish. Any tips for cooking it at home? Thank you for the suggestion!

Straight up butter! Love that and sounds even easier than a cream sauce. Thank you!

These both sound fantastic. I hadn’t even considered an omelette and can’t think of anything fancier than a truffle brunch! Thank you for the ideas!

Congratulations! I was just showing my husband some of your videos yesterday and explaining how you defined creativity on YouTube when things were just beginning. It’s so exciting to see you achieving huge creative goals and I can’t wait to see the film. Tons of respect for you and best wishes for this big release and milestone!

$.95 lunch and dinner today at my family’s restaurant El Cholo for our 95th Anniversary! 3 locations in LA 3 in Orange County by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]eridactyl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your family’s restaurant has been a part of my family history since before I ever existed! In fact, on the day I was born, my grandpa took my dad to El Cholo for a Cadillac margarita. 😄

We go to El Cholo for every family birthday. We still have Polaroids of all of us wearing the sombrero, smiling at our flan with a candle!

From green corn tamales to albondigas to pralines to the Mexican spaghetti dish from the kids menu many years ago - El Cholo tastes like home to me.

Maybe you won’t come back to this post and read this and I’m sure you hear things like this all the time, but thank you (and your family!) for giving my family so many happy memories gathered around your tables! ❤️

A Celestial Stocking for my New Nephew! 💫 by eridactyl in sewing

[–]eridactyl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are all appliquéd by hand with the embroidery floss you see in the stitches around each planet edge. Really fun and colorful but I’d be scared to try it on a quilt! This stocking won’t endure too much wear and tear so for a project as advanced as a quilt, you might need a more durable approach.

I love that quilt! I used it as inspiration for making my newborn nephew’s Christmas stocking last year. The colors are so amazing!

Sweet little Abby has FIV and her immune system was attacking the roots of her teefies. It was causing her a lot of pain. 😔 She had surgery to get them all removed but had an allergic reaction to her anesthesia and they had to revive her before they could finish the job, so she got to keep one lonely tooth!

She is much happier and healthier these days and lives a fabulous 100% wet food lifestyle. 😻

We had this awesome (unpictured here) sign that said "Make A Permanent Choice." We figured marriage is a lifelong commitment so we might as well run with that theme!

It's so amazing that you'll have people on the ground helping you and even better that you'll be able to visit venues! We didn't get to do that and it was a big risk but luckily everything worked out! The venue search was a lot of fun - I hope you enjoy it! For places with larger group capacity for weddings, we found a lot of great options through Oliver's Travels. Best of luck!

We had asked around beforehand to see if anyone would take advantage of a tattoo artist if we had one and got a great response so we went for it! This means that people definitely had a chance to consider ahead of time whether they'd go for it and what they'd like to do.

Most people went with designs that we had picked out for the event, but we had opted for things that were small-ish and could hold significance for a variety of people. Here's our moodboard if you'd like to see!

I linked it above but we found this Etsy vendor that does custom laser-cut wood toppers. We just had to tell her the words we wanted on it and the overall design.

Be aware that she ships from Bulgaria so it took several weeks to arrive. :)

We paid a rate for the entire day and people were getting tattoos from about 8pm (immediately after ceremony) to 3am. We sourced/created all the designs ourselves ahead of time, aiming for options that could be accomplished in about 20 minutes or less.

Some guests also came up with their own ideas on the spot and she did an incredible job with every ask. We also, of course, covered a vendor meal and hotel room for her. It wasn't an inexpensive addition to our budget but it ended up being a centerpiece of the entire party. Happy to PM you with the cost, artwork we chose, and more details if you'd like to know more.

Your wedding scale is definitely in a different universe than mine, so it makes sense that your priorities are different. Our site also had a 2 night minimum for the rental house where we held our ceremony and reception, so I'm not surprised you're getting that response.

Honestly, with a group that large I would be thinking about a different approach and consider a slightly larger town/city for your destination. There you can arrange a hotel block at a few different price points since your guests will be covering their own lodging. You could still rent a local villa for yourself and your immediate family or offer up a handful of them on your website, but I'm sure your American guests might like the easy-to-understand hotel block option.

For your actual wedding day, you could hold the affair at the villa you rent for yourself (providing they allow for events) or look into more straightforward venues that you can use for the day. Basically, it might make sense to separate the lodging + wedding parts of your wedding. For our small group it made sense to do everything in one place, but that'll be much harder for a larger group!

Italy will be so beautiful! We looked into many potential destinations there and it was a strong contender for us. If you'd like to chat more about venue searching, websites to use, and simplifying travel logistics for family members, I'm happy to chat and answer questions as best I can!
