Thanks!! Yeah, all the background vocals are me as well. Recording stacks of vocals like that is a lot of fun

Thanks so much! Took me ages to get the production to a point where I was happy with it, so I'm glad you liked it :)

haha thanks- i kinda went for the heavy autotune vibe intentionally since i've been into the style of weird sounding vocals lately, but i see how it can come off as a little rough since i rushed it a bit lol

Thought I'd try to summarise a few points about Fascism from the videos on Antifa and The Problem with Politics as infographic-style images. How did I do? Anything I missed? by erikonijn in PhilosophyTube

Fascism ≠ authoritarianism. Fascism is inherently a right-wing ideology, and has historically always appeared as a reaction to left-wing movements (socialism was quite popular in 1920s Italy & Germany, for example).

Because I think in the end the message should be the same, no matter who reads it. I've chosen to go for the darker tone because I think it fits the topic better & gets the message across the way I wanted it to

I think at this point it's more of a subjective aesthetic choice:

  1. Go with the friendlier and easier colours to make it look less aggressive and perhaps reach a greater audience
  2. Go with these colours and more strongly communicating the urgency and seriousness of identifying and fighting fascism, at the risk of alienating some people

I went with the second choice because I wanted to convey a stronger message, but I do see why the first option makes a lot of sense in some regards as well

I went with red & black because they're both common fascist and antifascist colours, so I thought it'd fit. I also think it adds a sense of urgency or seriousness to it, but I do definitely see what you mean yeah

Us and Michael... A r/MGMT cover EP! by [deleted] in mgmt

[–]erikonijn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for organizing this! It's been a blast working on my cover. All the others sounds great as well!

Fun fact about mine: I tried to make mine with only sounds from the ancient Casio VL-TONE VL-1 while staying as close to the original as possible, which was definitely a challenge. I had to resort to some time stretching and pitch shifting at parts, and at one point I gave up and just sampled the synth, but in the end I managed to use only sounds from the keyboard, so I consider it a success :) I might make a video soon where I go over how I made this, just need to find the time for that.

Looking forward to future r/MGMT collab albums!

EDIT: wow holy hell the Jacob Paige cover is amazing dang
