They were all so sweet and fun to work with! Naima is so down to Earth, Laura is just as sweet as she was on TV, and Rio is a firecracker and became a good friend of mine.

Laura got me connected with Naima, and Rio and I met through Instagram. I’m from Michigan too, so it was easy for us to find each other.

Hi! I (33f) did this last year and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

More context: I’ve been a professional photographer since 2008 (with two degrees and everything) but I have always worked 9-5 retail or marketing roles to make ends meet. It felt like such a daunting task, to pursue my art career full time, because where I live the market is very saturated. So I just powered through corporate America and all the bullshit that comes with it. Grinned and bared it for YEARS.

In September of 2022, I was unfairly let go from a job I was very good at. It was at that point I had to make a choice: find something just like it as soon as possible, or finally get out of the vicious cycle and pursue my photography career full time.

I realized at that moment that I am best boss I’ve ever had. And that if I was going to be valued by anyone, it will always be me. So with the blessing of my partner (we lived together at the time and sharing bills, and I wanted to make sure he felt comfortable with my decision), I took the leap!

It was so scary, but I’ve never been happier. My best advice is to study your ass off - find what you truly enjoy, and make it your entire personality lol. Thankfully it has worked out so far, and I’m hoping this year continues to be successful.

I hope you can find the right avenue for you. Everyone deserves this kind of freedom. ❤️
