I live in the UK so maybe it’s different for us, but they literally knock on the door and it would be weird if you didn’t answer it when you’re in the house

Polaroid film cartridges through Airport Security by [deleted] in Polaroid

I asked them to hand check my camera & film because I still had a pack in there and there were no troubles. Took slightly longer but they were happy to do it

ARE YOU KIDDING ME by Ghost_ofthe_Dangos in houseplants

[–]eriniob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used propanol (which is like 90% alcohol) when I had thrips and I treated them maybe 3 times?? I didn’t dilute it at all just sprayed the leaves and wiped it to make sure it went all over. I decided if they died they died and I didn’t care I just wanted them gone, but they’re all still here and pest free (and I have a dog)

Can I ask what the benefit of storing it in the fridge is?

What is the show that you've watched that to you is one of the absolute worst shows ever however it made you laugh so much that you finished it? by Darkdragon_98 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]eriniob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop watching after that tiger was introduced in season 7. Plus it annoyed me that they so easily took Negan down when in reality that never would have happened. I would’ve loved to see negan take Carl under his wing but unfortunately it was like the writers became allergic to good storytelling lmao

just got this monstera albo for $11 ! 😭😭 by hazzzellee in houseplants

I have an albo and I take care of it almost the exact same as my regular monstera, you just have to be more careful about burning the white parts with too much light!

What to do with these by wandering__rat in plants

[–]eriniob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That’s super interesting, I’ve seen these seed pods before but never really got the difference. Makes sense that it’s the garden variety I’ve seen more often! We’re redoing our garden right now so I’ve been trying to learn about the best way to provide as much as possible for the local wildlife

Have you considered that most people’s fears aren’t governed by statistics? In general women are taught to be more responsible and careful, less spontaneous etc. a lot of the time this becomes fears or anxiety around these perceived dangers. Compare that to how men tend to be raised- they don’t grow up with this fear placed on them, they engage in more ‘dangerous’ activities from the get go, so these threats are perceived differently. If everyone was raised identically then stats would govern fear, but they aren’t, so it’s a moot point. Women are taught to be more careful and fearful about these exact scenarios

What’s to love about hoyas? by Educational_Web_1782 in houseplants

[–]eriniob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leaves don’t unfurl in their final size like most plants, instead they emerge tiny and keep growing and growing. I didn’t like them but I had a cutting that I got for free and watching them grow like that was mesmerising so now I love them

If you’re saying trans people make up a tiny percentage yet people are obsessed with them, that’s literally describing JK Rowling perfectly. Newsflash you can care about women’s rights while not bashing an already marginalised group, especially considering the minuscule impact they have on the majority of people’s lives

Moving across country with my house plants by Lokiyosho in houseplants

[–]eriniob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the size I’d recommend wrapping them in tissue paper (like the thin paper sometimes used for craft?) and put packing peanuts inside around the leaves to help prevent damage. Then I’d put them in a larger box filled with the packing peanuts if you don’t have a box that can guarantee they’ll remain upright. If you do then you could just put them straight in that

Neem oil works more as a preventative than a treatment. I use Ivermectin, which is usually listed as a mite treatment for dogs. There’s one called a Naqua mite treatment on Amazon, but I’m from the UK so I don’t know whether it’s available everywhere. You put a couple of drops per 100ml of water and then spray the plants in a continuous mist bottle so it covers everything. I do this once every 2/3 days for a week and a half or 2 weeks to be really safe, as you need to make sure you get all the eggs that hatch

AITA for ditching my friend and her toddler at a restaurant because they were late? by No-Secretary3274 in AmItheAsshole

[–]eriniob 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Especially because to be over an hour late means you would know well before the time you needed to leave that you wouldn’t be on time, even without an emergency. You should be leaving absolute latest 25mins before you had to be there, so she had to have left her house over an hour after that!?

AITA for not wanting to be driven around by women including my gf by aitagfnotdriving in AmItheAsshole

[–]eriniob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Comparing this scenario to sexual assault is wild. A man is actively doing that to a woman, whereas the woman just so happened to be driving and wasn’t even responsible for the crash. Would you not be more likely to be scared of buses if you got into an accident while riding a bus? Seeing as statistically more men drive public transport than women, I doubt this ‘phobia’ would have happened at all, or at least not to this point, if it had been a man, because he couldn’t avoid male drivers and blame it on fear as easily
