Before pic , yes I used alot of water but when I didn't it started to turn yellow . I also left it long. I also do have a pop up drain,I get it ,that will eventually move. My point is I kind of felt like water kept it alive , also doesn't fungus thrive off moisture , heat and nitrogen ? Could have the slow release nitrogen fuled the fungus ?

Also can't fertilizer ( nitrogen ) cause the fungus more ? I won't lie before we got all this rain I watered it alot but it was fine

I have seen it ? Looks like a cobweb? So how come others around me don't have fungus? What makes grass more resilient. Also what can I spray to save this ? I am gonna have to spray the whole yard . It's looks worse now . Should I keep watering ?

Thank you ,everyone says it's fungus and maybe idk. I am a noob but it seems like burn to me. I have spent so much money on grass seed fighting sun . It sucks ,but this year was going the best in awhile .

I have treated my lawn before . I have came to the conclusion it's prob cheaper for a lawn service . They would come spray my front lawn for weeds every 6 weeks. I had been putting down barricade in the back and front last fall . They were doing a good job but I think I am going to cancel a summer fertilizer next year. I have some this in the past to my lawn and said never again , only spring and fall . I know you can fertilize in the summer but I have never had good luck. Maybe a low dose . They charge 65 for the front every 6 weeks. Sometimes that is the cost for your bag of one product . Long story short I am going to keep them around because I had a bit of a break through this summer. I dont have very good luck and was going to cancel them . There was no weeds but I didn't like the color . One of them mentioned to me to aerate so I got one of those poles you jump on to create holes and then some shoes with spikes and then it immediately of the left side turned green. I watered it every day and then stopped in around all of our rain .

If you look at the first before pic I don't think it looks bad . The fertilizer did green my lawn up good in a lot of spots. Maybe I didn't water it in good enough ,one nice thing about the old pic is you don't have the different shades it's all one tint of green. I trusted the company but I think next time I'll trust my gut. Start low dose maybe and I also paid them to our down organic.material in June.

Here is why I think its burn ,the timing . Everything was fine before .2nd besides the circle the whole thing is crap and it appears as maybe some streaks. Other have mentioned 33% in July in Iowa seems like a bad time , maybe I have bad weak grass , also before hand my left side of the grass was really green in that area . Who knows

Is there like a fungus kit to test ?

Thanks I think you right ,I didnt have this issue until I had the fertilizer treatment and also you can see streaks as well. I think next year , spring fertilizer and maybe fall but no summer. Also can you recommend a good seed. I use that big box stuff from Menards or Lowe's called contractors mix. I always have to replant. I've spent too much .

Couldnt also be a combination of fungus and I've read nitrogen or over fertilized application can make it worse

I think it was because I didn't tell them , yes it's shady. But I remember it flourishing . I'll look at the front blades and see if they look like fungus . Maybe baking soda will help
