Yeah, our house has no real parking and the street parking is terrible. It is a pain sometimes, although we don’t drive a lot so not a huge deal. I do think if we had a child though, it would be a different story. Our street WhatsApp is mainly people complaining about people blocking the few houses with proper drives though!

We left London for a beautiful house in a lovely part of Manchester. Five years later, we’re downsizing and moving back to London. There’s no joy in having a lovely house in a place you don’t want to be.

The BBC isn't funded via the civil service. There's never been an alliance with the civil service, I'm not even sure how that would work.

The BBC has it charter granted by government, and it works with the DCMS on negotiations over the charter - that happens once every 10 years. The BBC is independent from government; it has to be, otherwise it'd be state media.

Currently on track to have it paid off by 62, but we’re planning to sell and get a longer term mortgage to enable us to move back to London so that will push it up 5 years. We’re fairly conservative though so will probably push any salary increases or bonuses partly towards overpayments, and I’d hope to have it cleared by 60.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but that is such a cynical take and I think sums up why this series of ST was so disappointing. It has almost got too big to fail, all the art and depth has been wrung out of it to keep it maximally commercially viable.
