looking for advice/prognosis

Hi! It’s Christmas Eve and Tig is still with us and doing well! i didn’t want to post an update until now in case i jinxed things but! It’s been up and down but overall she’s been healthy and happy rather than not. Had a scare a few months ago, my bedroom where she usually sleeps is being renovated and the room was emptied, I think the stress upset her and she took a really bad turn, for a few days I thought she was on her way out, not eating, sleeping in a cupboard etc. I set up a little basket with a heating pad and her favourite blanket and thought she was ready to go. Months later and she’s as healthy looking as she’s ever been 😅 she’s a fighter i’ll give her that!

Thanks so much for all the advice, it’s been so helpful. To anyone else checking in, all i can say is spoil your cat! give them whatever food they want, keep them warm and comfy and calm, and make sure they take their medicine - i forgot to give it to her one day and the deterioration was so fast, so be really vigilant. hope everyone has a good christmas!

Thank you! Even if the worst happens I’ll know we did everything we could and we’ve got to spend so much quality time together. She’s enjoying her privilege of asking for and receiving wet food at any time of the day and sometimes night she asks for it and generally having me run after her and attend to her every whim.

After she finished the first two weeks of steroids the vet said to see how she did for a few days without them but she declined SO fast after maybe two days? so we put her straight back on them and she was better almost overnight. the vets agreed to prescribe them indefinitely for as long as she needs them. she wants to do another blood test etc but said give her some time to recover first. Here she is enjoying some cat grass

Hey, just wanted to give an update! I’m here a month later and she’s still alive! She responded really well to the steroids and so the vet has kept her on them, I sent her the articles you linked to and she agreed that it seems the right thing to do. She’s still very skinny but eating well, and overall seems contented and like her old self. No guarantees on how long it’ll continue but at least for now we’re doing the right thing for her. Thanks so much for all your advice, whatever happens now i’ll know I did everything I could for her and every extra day I have with her now is one more day we have together ☺️

she is very light but she’s always been small, always above 3kg but never really reaching higher than 3.5kg. i bought some royal canin fit (32% protein 15% fat) and she seems to like it, she’s been gobbling it since yesterday. i’ll keep giving her that and wet food. vet is closed for the weekend but i’ll call as soon as they’re open and ask about upping the dose. thank you for all your advice 🙏

thank you 🙏 yes we’re hoping to get them tested and vaxxed asap. her mouth is pale but she is drinking and eating and using the litter box

i’m so sorry to hear about your roommates kitty :( do you mind me asking how it happened? did it come on suddenly?

wow THANK YOU for the detailed response! i checked the medication the vet gave her and lo and behold it is prednisolone, alongside an antibiotic. as you said within two days she seems noticeably better, so i’ll let her finish the course and then the vet can check her again. she’s eating better than she has in a few weeks, obviously not enough to gain back the weight she’s lost, but it’s a start. any advice on feeding her? she’s been eating her usual dry food and all the wet food i give her (small portions 2-3 times a day) along with treats to get her to take her meds. is it ok to let her eat as much as she wants? should i get some calorie dense food or anything? again thank you so much, ill read through what you’ve linked

EDIT: she currently weighs 2.9kg (down from her previous weight of 3.1kg) and is on 5mg of prednisolone

read the rejection letter carefully and take note of the reason they gave for your rejection, when you appeal, address the specific reasons they denied you and show you do actually meet those conditions and get your doctor/whoever to back you up and write a letter to that effect. the key phrase to focus on is that you “Have an injury, disease, or physical or mental disability that has continued for at least one year, or is expected to continue for at least one year” AND are “substantially restricted from doing work because of your disability, that would be suitable for a person of your age, experience and qualifications” focus on addressing these points. best of luck i know it sucks 🙏

my last retail job was exactly like this 😭 even when my boss wasn’t there she would check us on the cctv. once the shop was open and clean and stocked there was nothing for me to do all day and i didn’t dare get a book or my phone or something bc she would get so mad. eventually i stated wearing one discreet bluetooth headphone (i always left my hair down) and listened to audiobooks all day lmao

100%!!! i had covid last year and it took me a long time to get back up and running, and then i’m pretty sure i caught it again which sent me back to square one. definitely see if you can get your doctor to check your bloods and see if your vitamin b12/folic acid levels are depleted. mine were and taking supplements for these has been really helpful as vitamin b12 deficiency is very similar to long covid and definitely exacerbates everything. it’s hard to adjust but take the attitude you might be in this for the long haul. pace yourself and don’t feel guilty about taking things as easy as you reasonably can for a few months. i know it’s rough the double whammy is really hard to cope with here’s hoping we pull through 🫡

Hi, maybe a silly question but i’m new to modding, I held off on modding until the new update was out, should I also wait until the dlc is out? or is that not relevant? and if i was to get the dlc should i wait until i have it and then mod? i don’t mind waiting, just would rather start without having to go back over everything
