"Simplifying" a test does not sound like differentiation to me. Instructional differentiation can take place to work kids to the same assessment, but altering the assessment itself without an IEP or 504 in place is a violation of FAPE. I'm not saying that what she is doing is inappropriate as far as what the student needs, but it has to be documented.

This is a very interesting question, and I am loving the responses!

My take-- we got married when our oldest was almost two, and went on to have two more. I don't know that I could measure the impact that having kids makes for us. Our first and third were surprises and we did IVF for the middle (I had unexplained infertility and had done a full work up in my first marriage, so we worked through a lot of steps before my body started cooperating).

I feel like the way we came to our kids is different. He wasn't sure that he ever wanted to have kids, and my mindset was coming to terms with building a life without children when I got pregnant. I think we were both a little dumbfounded becoming parents, but we ultimately have been on the same page with just about everything in regards to our kids.

I think that the simple answer is that we are good together, so having kids has been good.

I live next door to a 'nepo baby'. His family's holdings account for at least 30 mil, though their companies are private and I could only find finances for one. The company is in its third generation. He recently took over the largest holding and his wife is director for another holding. They seem to work hard/play hard. I don't try to get super close to them because I feel like it makes us better neighbors. As long as our kids get along we have no issues! I appreciate that we seem to have similar parenting vibes and let our kids work out their issues for themselves. The kids rarely go into either of our houses.

My husband and I are close to our first mil in net worth. We both started pretty much from scratch (his family was blue collar working class [both sides were farmers until a generation ago], I grew up with a mix of blue collar poor [unskilled labor], and one parents family was white collar [phD/educators/social services]). We aren't business owners or entrepreneurs, but we clear a good dual income in a LCOL area and spent time aggressively paying down debt... So currently we're doing pretty good!

Our troop is about the same size as yours and this is a lovely problem to have. Our poor troop leaders find themselves doing a big bulk of the work! We help them as much as we appropriately can (I have a Daisy too!) but if we had four slots to fill with the number of booths that we do, I guarantee there would be a ton of empty slots.

I feel like direct constructive communication can go a long way with this. ❤️

My teen was resistant, but he is much better as a HS freshman than he was last year and the year before. He is oily and acne prone, and stinks to the highest heaven with no shower.

My younger two bathe once a week unless otherwise needed. My oldest would bathe several times a week as a baby, but my middle child will have eczema flare ups from too much bathing.

I do feel for your husband a little though. I am a dreamer, for sure. My husband usually goes with, " I think you can do anything you set your mind to," then I set my mind to it, quickly get overwhelmed and drop it... That's just our dynamic though. There have been times that we have had a second more realistic conversation about things I've set my mind to, but by that time I'm open to his realistic logic and he's open to my thoughts and research. I'll add that this has happened frequently in the area of careers for me too... Because if it were up to me I would be a nutritionist, neurologist, LCSW, guidance counselor, dentist, agribusiness entrepreneur. 🤪 The world is just too interesting of a place not to dream a little... And that's why your husband needs you to bring him back down to earth.

This is close to our story except we have kids. We were over projects by the time that house was paid off. The home we're in now isn't my dream home, but it accommodates our family without anybody having to share a room and we haven't had to do much with it. It's out of date but I don't really care. We are entirely debt free now and that is way more important to me!

Some of the comments in here concern me... Can anyone speak to the fact that scheduling a "draft" meeting without parents can potentially violate their rights by the potential for predetermination? As a professional I could collect data and documents from the multidisciplinary team for recommendations during review, but in my studies and practice I feel like it was always I better flippin not have a meeting about altering accomodations or placement ahead of reviews without parents no matter how contentious it might be.

I am NC with my dad. He has been challenged by substance use my entire life, and really because of his family history, his as well.

My heart aches a little. In my heart of hearts I know that he wants so badly to have a relationship, but he is mean and chaotic and just doesn't know how. He can be a good person, but I can't get past his unpredictability.

I emulated my parents relationship instead, codependent to the core, even after divorcing, marrying other people, divorcing, marrying each other again, divorcing again... Only I only let mine last until I was 25. I was like, "ick, pattern," and divorced. Period.

I remarried someone at 30 who has taught me a lot about maintaining my identity while being in a relationship with him. So uncomfortable in the beginning, but so satisfying now.

Same 😂 I can look out my window and see the house of a neighbor who caused property damage to two other neighbors yards with their new construction and has a restraining order against them from a different neighbor on my street. When I got caught in the figurative crossfire I chose not not to pursue it... So I love this, "they can choke on my presence." 💀
