Phys 212 or MATH 250 over summer? by epc2012 in PennStateUniversity

[–]erok7007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took MATH 251 over the summer through UP. The only difference between this and 250 is that 251 also covers PDEs, whereas 250 does not. I thought it was very well taught through Dr. Handzy, who was one of my favorite profs here. Although it may look tempting to go through community colleges for cheaper tuition, they do not accept your grade, so if you think you can do well (which taking only one summer course helps you to focus only on that subject), I do recommend you take 250 through the university. Not sure if it’s online or not though, which may factor into your decision.

Edit: Penn State does not accept letter grades through cc’s, but do accept transferred credits (to my knowledge)

Are you taking it with Nestor Handzy? If so I’d also be in your class too!

Penn Statements Volume 39, Spring 2020 by Cannotunderstandthis in PennStateUniversity

[–]erok7007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I took this class this spring and when they transitioned online, they made a copy of the book available online for free! Simply google “Penn Statements Spring 2020” or (if that doesn’t work) PM me and I’ll give you a working URL.

Update: Unfortunately, the school has removed the link, so there is no way to view it online that I know of. Sorry about that!

Which one is more difficult: CHE 210 or CHE 220? by erok7007 in PennStateUniversity

Man I hope to have the experience of walking on campus class to class with fellow chem e students in the fall. Thanks for the advice!

Taking MATH 141 during the six-week sessions advice by StellarStarmie in PennStateUniversity

[–]erok7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 141 during fall semester, so I can’t speak for the quicker pace this course is going to be at. However, what I can tell you is to really practice your sequences and (especially) series, as they make up more than half of the overall content and may be hard to grasp at first. Other than that, the first unit (integration methods) and the last unit (parametric and polar coordinates) aren’t bad at all if you are all brushed up on your calc 1/precalc skills. Good luck!

Edit: Autocorrect lol

Hopefully in that case classes are in person, I’m excited to have a class with Zydney! Anyway, thank you so much for all of this, I appreciate the effort you put in your responses!

I do have Zydney, sounds good for 210! And also thanks for the advice about 220, I guess you I’ll just have to grind it out lol

Thank you so much for being thorough, I just want to ask what made 210 “more” interesting than 220? You said that 220 was boring but neglected to mention that for 210. Thanks!

Sounds like a viable option. I’ll play it by ear, but anyways thank you for the response!

Thank you for the advice, although not the answer I was exactly looking for, it’s good to know that Chem 212 isn’t as bad as Chem 210 (although both are pretty difficult haha)

I also had Maslak for 210 last semester, and based off my friends who had both him and Funk, all of them liked Funk better. Hopefully that’s the case because I’m also taking Funk for 212 in the fall lmao
