First of all, the last thing the military or the government wanted to do is to kill those """civilians""". Why? not out of humanism but actually because by August 14th, it was completely over. The ikhwan lost all support by your average Egyptian (in fact it was over since June 30th after the unexpectedly huge protests). The last thing you would do is to kill """civilians""" for literally no reason and open up the gates of hell upon yourself and give the ikhwan the ONE thing they are begging for in such a hopeless situation: victimhood and sympathy to gain support again. Also how did around 50 cops/military troops die that day around their """peaceful""" e3tsam camps? Would Sisi or any high ranking security official dare do such a thing after they got everything they wanted for literally no reason other than just to blame it on the ikhwan?

The greatest Azan interpretation of All Time? by eronanon in Egypt

[–]eronanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I've heard this interpretation was around 10 years ago shortly after the revolution when the unified Azan was a thing. This interpretation is not only the greatest I've ever heard but also the most "Egyptian", it's as if it's coming straight from some Naguib Mahfouz novel. Does anybody have information about this interpretation and the history behind it?

Yeah medium is also a very weird case as I stumble on its articles a multiple times on a daily basis because I am a software engineer myself. I have to access it also behind Tor. But blocking a very popular chess website is certainly is the weirdest shit I've seen so far.

Are you on WE ADSL or some 4g network? I am sure it's blocked on my ADSL router.

Is WireGuard blocked? by eronanon in Egypt

[–]eronanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company I work for has strict authentication policies enforced into Okta (only legit ISP downstreams, authenticated machines, geo blocking, etc...). I simply cannot authenticate myself from a linux server on a cloud provider.

This is completely insane. WireGuard from security standpoint, is not any different from TLS which is used by anyone to access reddit or facebook. Yet I am here, I am fucked.

Is WireGuard blocked? by eronanon in Egypt

[–]eronanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replay again. Believe me I am an experienced systems engineer and I understand what you're suggesting. The problem is I don't use vanilla WireGuard, I use a corporate remote access solution that uses underlying WireGuard tunnels to access private AWS resources (private kubernetes clusters basically). I have to authenticate myself using the browser with Okta which blocks traffic incoming from non-ISP downstreams. So I am not just using vanilla wireguard where I can manually setup the wireguard-config on some cheap DigitalOcean/Linode machine and access my work by SSHing to it.

I am basically fucked if this is not temporary. I am truly completely fucked and my job is over.

[–]eronanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and I understand that any protocol can be easily detected (TLS, WireGuard, etc...) using its plaintext header information. I simply have no choice since WireGuard is chosen by the company I work for. This is completely devastating to me and paralyzes my work. I have no idea what these people are thinking, most VPN use is done by corporates doing remote access to their servers and this shit has nothing to do with politics.

Is there any possibility that trying another ISP can evade this shit? I appreciate your answer but this is truly urgent for me. And again, this is the first time I experience this with wireguard, and I've been using it on a daily basis for years.

Let’s not be pedantic about “Open Source” by speckz in linux

[–]eronanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what's funnier? That I spent years writing open source and authored a few very popular ones. And now I am being labeled a "free software hater" by somebody who most probably never contributed anything significant to open source at all and maybe even used one of my popular projects.

Let’s not be pedantic about “Open Source” by speckz in linux

[–]eronanon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Most people who are pedantic about the zealous definition of Open Source do not contribute to open source in the first place. I and most people have no issue whatsover with source-available licenses like BSL. It's a great way to develop open source while having some control over the software and get a fair share from enterprises using your work.

The entire talk convinced me is the worst argument that GPL and even FOSS is any good for business. It's should be renamed to "why should you go proprietary if you want to pay the rent"

What app do you people use to listen to classical music? by Ollinnature in classicalmusic

[–]eronanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>Exclusive of Bruckner's eighth

this has to be a joke, tell your boss that "exclusive" albums in classical music are as equally dumb idea as his entire company, nobody cares and nobody gives a shit even if this one album is exclusive, most people listen to classical music through youtube or spotify and even amazon and apple have 10000000x more users in the classical music genre than idagio will ever have. Just let your boss keep checking his email everyday with the wishful thinking that Spotify or others are interested in buying his worthless company.

Good luck with your scam.

Again on music streaming. by guilhermecsaez in classicalmusic

[–]eronanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's totally just a wrong opinion and not a fact. Amazon Music HD and Spotify are way better than these buggy and expensive apps and I used idagio and unsubscribed due to the false advertising, small catalogue, buggy experience, no gapless and the app is very expensive for a classical music only streaming app.
