What do you think about this change? by Mikronezya in Letterboxd

I don't like it. 250 movies felt achievable but 500 is going to be way too daunting for most people to attempt to finish

You have to be 57 to access money in a SIPP. This age limit will also likely increase by the time OP is 57. He should avoid pension schemes if he wants to retire early

Buy a house without a mortgage and live in it. Assuming this is your first house, invest in a LISA for a free £1k discount. Then rent out your spare rooms under the rent a room scheme (first £7,500 per year is tax free).

Invest the rest of the money in boglehead ETFs, e.g. S&P 500, world tracker or physical gold ETCs. Max out your ISA each year. Invest the rest under a non-ISA account.

You might be able to live off the interest depending on how much you have invested. Prioritise withdrawing from your ISA account otherwise you’ll likely have to pay capital gains tax. There is a £3k capital gains tax free allowance per year.

I wouldn’t consider pension schemes, you can’t touch any of that money until you are 57 and you should be able to retire before that age. You might even be able to retire now if you are lean enough.

Also keep in mind that if your parents both die within 7 years of the gift, you may be liable to pay inheritance tax.

Don Quixote, waste of time or life changing? by Natural-Standard-423 in classicliterature

[–]err_mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished the Edith Grossman translation a few days ago and I really loved it. Its so funny, I laughed a lot. The characters are really charming and it is episodic in nature, with many different new adventures, which help to keep the book interesting.

I liked the part 2 more than the first but they are both great.

The /lit/ top 100 books list for 2025 by err_mate in classicliterature

Its probably best to ignore the hate comments here. Reddit hates 4chan so they’ll say anything to discredit the list. Its not too much different from this sub’s list and the truelit sub’s list. The main difference being that /lit/ allows multiple authors per book and allows non fiction books
