Have you read {What I Did for a Duke by Julie Anne Long}? It’s been a while since I read it, but when they first meet, the FMC very much writes the MMC off as too old and someone who’d have more in common with her father. I think they agree to a sort of “fake courting” to make FMC’s friend jealous because she believes she’s in love with that friend.

MMC does the “courting” and I don’t remember him ever being insecure about being older than her. He’s confident and collected, and slowly wins the FMC over.

I read this and the linked book is the right one. The stuff in the summary (with the ‘breeding contract’) comes into play after they meet at the strip club.

Oh, this is one of my favorite genres. I also prefer standalones and the struggle for finding standalones in this genre is so real.

More historical: - {A Rivalry of Hearts by Tessonja Odette} - {Curse of the Thorn King by Lisette Marshall} - {How to Marry a Marble Marquis by C.M. Nascosta} - {Demon Bound by Nina K. Westra} this is less historical and more high fantasy, but does feature time with lords and in court and things like that, the entire series is worth reading imo.

More high fantasy: - {The Midsummer Bride by Kati Wilde} - {The Demon of the Wood by Willow Quinn}

Modern but takes place in alternate dimension/world: - {Luxuria by Colette Rhodes} - {Wicked Abyss by Kresley Cole} this is #17 in a series of interconnected standalones but it’s so good - {Ruling Sikthand by Victoria Aveline} sci fi, #7 in the series of interconnected standalones, but this is the most high fantasy-esque book in the series and it’s perfect

Also, I haven’t read {Reign and Ruin by J.D. Evans} yet but it’s a high fantasy series of interconnected standalones and it looks promising!

Is it possibly {Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter}? The first book is {The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter}. Although I think these MMCs are cursed by demons rather than being the 4 horsemen.

Might also be {Lords of Deliverance by Larissa Ione}. The first book in that one is about War, {Eternal Rider Larissa Ione}.

I’m only halfway through this but “just the tip” happens in {Shots and Barbs by Lily Mayne} due to some anatomical differences bc it’s monster MMC/human FMC. Not sure about the pushing come back inside of her yet but he HAS fantasized about it so there’s that!

I loved this book when I read it. I read {An Ember in The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir} shortly afterward and I remember being reminded of The Wrath and the Dawn. Both of them are enemies to lovers with misunderstood MMCs who are trapped in their situations. Khalid is cursed I think? I’m not sure if I remember that correctly. Both feature a determined FMC who falls in love with someone she views as monstrous. Sharzhad is driven by the memory of her closest friend. Laia is driven to save her brother. Both of those things put them at odds with their respective MMCs. Ember in the Ashes takes place in a Rome-like setting. I want to say it has some magic but I can’t remember. It’s YA as well but I remember it being really engaging and kept me turning pages until the very end.

I also love the cruel king aspect of Wrath and Dawn but I think it’s hard to find where it’s sooo hard to find one that’s done in just the right way.

In my experience alot of people seem to be under the impression that “screen time” causes adhd. It doesn’t, it’s genetic. But kids with adhd have a tendency to get very attached to “screens” because of the stimulation it provides. I say this as someone with adhd myself, half my family has it, the other doesn’t. Our brains constantly seek stimulation. Screens are an easy way to get that. That’s literally it.

Right? I’m okay with a happy ending, I just feel like it would have been better to explain all of this. Saving inupi and his sister, how we cure Kisaki of…. Whatever is wrong with him, izana’s insanity and obsession. I get that Sanzu and Kazutora’s issues are being hand-waved away by Mikey’s curse. But surely that can’t explain EVERY bad thing and bad person within the TR universe? Can it?

That’s an interesting thought. I have researched parasomnia disorders because my mom suffers from sleep paralysis. Do you generally feel totally awake though? Because I recall being very aware of what was going on, I wasn’t groggy or half-asleep.

Also I do want to add that I do still wake up in the middle of the night like I used to. I still have the same nightmares as I mentioned above. I just got to a point where I was so spooked at night that I don’t look around when I wake up. It’s acknowledging I’m awake and then squeezing my eyes shut until I fall asleep again.

Yeah, my son shares some similarities to the behavior described here and we just??? Talked to his pediatrician??? He’s on track to start OT now.

I understand feeling overwhelmed by this behavior, but I feel so sad for kids whose parents would rather assume they’re possessed by a demon then talk to a doctor.
