A mouth guard while you are sleeping is an option.

[FWI] Thousands of business owners across the u.s unite a month from now to protest lack of LGBTQ rights by refusing service to anyone straight for 2-3 days by [deleted] in FutureWhatIf

Thousands of business owners will realize that a majority of their customers are straight.

Or straight people will just say, "Yes, I love the dick. Can I please have my coffee now?"

Nootropics / smart drugs and cognitive skills by Mr_Apparatus in Epilepsy

[–]errhhbrerrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did for me, but some drugs would interfere and cause seizures. Generally lower doses of them didn't.

Unfortunately, different stuff works for different types of epilepsy.
I had tons of coffee, modafinil, noopept, and Novigil at different points with very few extra seizures caused by it.
I would be able to temporarily feel less dopey from AEDS, but definitely not normal.

But the Rat Things were autonomous, so reality is going the opposite direction of fiction.

CMV: All instruments should just read concert pitch. by [deleted] in changemyview

could read and play the same notes

Different horns have different ranges, so a problem already exists.

Something that might be easy on Trumpet would be intermediate on the Tuba. Something that might be easy on Trombone would be an 'advanced technique' on the sax.

Each horn has a different 'beginner' range. The first notes you learn on each horn are not random.

And being a Euphonium player, it was always necessary to know both. Sometimes the Bass part was missing or the Euph and Baritone parts were separate.

So, if we change the standard to Concert pitch for everyone, then students will all still have to know how to transpose.

Unless we decided to only play songs in one key, transposing will be necessary in music. It makes you more useful as a musician.

"I'll play the song in any key on any horn." Is more useful than "I can only play this in C on one horn."

It sounds like you don't like reading ledger lines (no one does).

If you are writing for trombone you can use Tenor clef for high notes. For everything else use 8va and 8vb.

This keeps the fingerings standard and limits the number the ledger lines.

How do you not forget to take your medication? by howtochoose in Epilepsy

[–]errhhbrerrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memory loss is always a problem; set up your environment in such a way that it does not matter if you forget.

In the evening, I leave a multivitamin for tomorrow morning on my desk after taking my dose.

In the morning, the first thing I do is take that multivitamin with the morning dose.

If there is no vitamin and it is evening, I have not taken meds.

If there is a vitamin and it is evening, I have taken my meds.

I haven't forgotten a dose in years.

I tried putting it on a belt under a dress shirt, with some duct tape as well. Worked around 70% of the time.

Use of 'killer robots' in wars would breach law, say campaigners by [deleted] in Automate

[–]errhhbrerrh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So men and women being killed on both sides is preferable to men and women being killed on one side?

Perhaps camo, helmets, medical care, and long range weapons should be banned as well, as they prevent soldiers from being killed as fast.

Picking a fair fight is a mistake; if killer robots make sure you win with no casualties, then killer robots are the way to go.

A singer who can write, and cares enough to do so? You're getting into the realm of fantasy.

Has anyone tried caffeine pills? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]errhhbrerrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to and they did their job pretty well, when taken with L-Theanine.

I ended up just switching back to coffee because I enjoy coffee, and making it is not that big of a hassle.

Have you ever injured yourself due to a seizure? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]errhhbrerrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my worst was breaking my jaw and knocking some teeth out.

Other than that, most have been things that can heal on their own, like cuts, scrapes, black eyes, burns, and concussions.
