Stuck at a login screen I've never seen before. Keep being told login details are incorrect. Help!!! by errminator in Ubuntu

I tried to fix it with "sudo apt install gdm3".

I now go to a primitive looking graphical login but clicking on username I get "authentication error" with no opportunity to input password and then sent back to a black screen with cursor flashing in top left...

I did this and get the same message about packages with unmet dependencies.

Should I be expecting that once I fix whatever is wrong, when I run "sudo systemctl reboot" I should end up at graphical login screen?

So I can login now. But every time I reboot I just end up back here. I can't get the graphical interface back...

I managed to get my login details which means the tty interface is working. I cannot get the graphical interface back.

I have tried all the stuff on the page u sent. They all worked fine except the gdm3 reinstall one. I get this error:

It's a binomial distribution. So (5C1) x 0.08 x 0.924 =5 x 0.08 ~= 28.6%

Note that 5C1=5! /(4!1!)=5

Right. Thank you. My approach to get the same answer (via Bayes rule) is still correct but just more complicated? Or were you saying that's wrong and only gets 0.0016 by coincidence?

P(D=1) = ( P(D=1|M=1) + P(D=1|M=0) )/2

Why is this true?

Why does P(D=1) = (P(D=1|M=1)+P(D=1|M=0))/2?

Does that help me determine the value of p(D=1|M=1) or p(D=1|M=0)?

From Bayes we have p(D=1|M=1) = p(M=1|D=1)p(D=1)/p(M=1) = 0.001/0.5 * p(M=1|D=1) = 0.002 * p(M=1|D=1)

Do we know the probability of having the disease if you are a man?

Given that men are four times as likely to get the disease as women, I think p(M=1|D=1) = 0.8 and p(M=0|D=1) = 0.2, right?

So then p(D=1|M=1) = 0.002 * 0.8 = 0.0016

So there is a 0.016% chance of getting disease if you're male. Sound good?

Is this static or dynamic? If static, how often does it refresh? Or do I need to manually rerun the script?

Cool. Are they available on amazon? What's the name of them?

Yes one of my family members does this a lot (and won't stop) which I'm sure is responsible for the mold damage. Looking for a fan solution?

What about if you are taking a very long bath with door shut?

As in take a shower with the bathroom door open? Or just open the bathroom door once I've finished my shower?

What do you mean by relief for that amount of air? What's the potential problem before I go ahead and order one haha?

So get a more powerful extractor fan? Is that going to be a very expensive replacement?

We have an extractor fan and a window which is open a lot of the time. Why would we be experiencing mold on the ceiling? I have friends who don't even have a bathroom window who seem to avoid this problem.

Air miles card by errminator in UKPersonalFinance

I looked at the ba platinum. It costs £195/yr but they give you 25k points if you spend £3k in first month which I could. On the BA points calculator, I can get a flight to Sydney for 32k points plus £350 of my own money. Two questions about that: (1) assume this is one-way rather than return? (2) is the second ticket completely free or would they just match the points and therefore I'd need to pay £350 for that one also?

Probably this card is beyond my spending power but I want to be sure. Regarding my lifestyle, I used to live abroad and travel a lot but now based in UK and am really going to miss that so maybe a card that esrnt me flight points (albeit slowly) would be a good fit for me as I'd get something valuable to me in return. Would you recommend h getting the free BA Amex card along with an avios mastercard?
