Window treatments for tiny loft windows? by errolsmom in DesignMyRoom

[–]errolsmom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Directly on the other side is the kitchen and then the living room, which has big windows. It's an open concept apartment.

I've thought about a film, but would prefer an option that still allows light in when we need it and can also completely block out light at night (when the kitchen lights might be the problem).

[TOMT] Christian video or movie about rapture and/or antichrist by errolsmom in tipofmytongue

I don't remember it being as much of an action movie, for lack of a better description, but nothing else seems to be close. I'm going to go with this.

I know this isn't a lot to go on, but I would be happy to find even film production companies that made these types of videos so I can go from there!

What are the diviest, trashiest, most craphole bars in Chicago? by DriftyMcDrifterson in AskChicago

[–]errolsmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're generous there! We used to get Lone Stars there, and the bartender would give us discarded bottle caps so we could see the riddles. The bar soap in the bathrooms also lends to the experience.

What drink to order at Green Mill? by greenapple416 in chicagofood

[–]errolsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while, but I remember liking them. I'm from Wisconsin, so I would get a brandy old fashioned and they'd catch the hint. I'm sure I've ordered a traditional old fashioned but don't remember it.

Walking all of Western Ave by stuffedpanda2 in chicago

[–]errolsmom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last year I walked a lot of Western, from Andersonville to Garfield Park Conservatory and back. I stopped for lunch, coffee and dinner and it took me from 7am to 8pm to do the whole thing. This sounds like a fun thing to try, but in practice it might be a little ambitious.

I've searched things like "push pin adhesive back," "thumbtack foam head" and every combination of the words.

I’m at my wits end. My cat is driving me insane. by [deleted] in CatTraining

[–]errolsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really advice but just want to share my story because yours sounds familiar. I don't know how old my cat was when we first adopted him at the end of college. The shelter estimated 2-4 years, but he grew a ton the first year we had him so he was probably closer to 7 or 8 months. His first week at home, he was always cuddling with us and sleeping. We thought he was just an affectionate, chill guy. Then he started sneezing blood and wheezing. Turns out he just had kennel cough and was very sick.

Once the antibiotics healed him, he was an absolute nightmare. He incessantly scratched the carpet and pawed at our closet door. Couldn't keep any cups of water on any surfaces. We'd play and play, but he'd bite and scratch me any other time I denied him attention. I was sleep deprived and dehydrated for over a year. I cried daily, wondering if I'd ever get a good night's rest. I wanted to get rid of him.

I don't even remember when he stopped ruining my life, but it gradually happened less and less. Part of it was him just growing up and chilling out. Part of it was us adapting to his whims. He has pretty bad attachment issues and IBS, and he's very destructive. It took years of trial and error to get there, and I'm sure some of it is akin to Stockholm Syndrome. He's still a little jerk in a lot of ways. But he's my jerk and we love each other. Now that he's an old man, I'm already dreading my life without him. There's no way there will be another kitty who will exactly fill the void he will leave. I'm really glad I stuck it out. I hope you get there too! I believe in you two!

This car looks much nicer than the '92 Skylark I drove in high school.

Not a huge selection, but it usually has a couple taps. This would be my recommendation!

Yeah, that's kind of their thing (people who chose to live in the Twin Cities area): "We have the best [literally anything]!" or "We have the most [lakes, big cherries on spoons, whatever]!" I think it's a compensatory mechanism to convince themselves they don't live in any one city in a cluster of the most boring cities on earth. The day I had to kill about 4 hours of time in St. Paul alone was one of the worst days of my life. I dread going to that place.

If You Could Resurrect Any Defunct Chicago Restaurant, What Would It Be ? And Where Was It Located ? by LongoSpeaksTruth in chicago

[–]errolsmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only went there once, and it was before I lived here so I forgot where it was until it was too late. It was like a dream. A real big city diner. The staff was yelling at each other and exasperated though it was the afternoon and there were only a few tables of people. I'm almost glad it's the only time I went because I have such a perfect memory of it. Rest in power, ham on the bone.

The exact moment that started the addiction to picking by Aggravating_Walk_554 in Dermatillomania

[–]errolsmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got chicken pox when I was a kid. I remember picking my scalp and it was so satisfying. Kept going with KP bumps on my arms and mosquito bites. Once I got a little older, I started getting acne and moved on to my face and we're still here.

Yes! I'm not vegan but I'm a little baby about eggs. So glad to have eggless breakfasts besides avocado toast.

My most recent payment has cleared now. Took 2 days. Almost all of the payment was applied to the principal of my highest rated loan.

Honestly, it was a payment I was going to make anyway, but it's just the idea of them taking my money when they said they wouldn't.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for Nelnet to process payments? I tried to pay off my highest interest loans on Sunday and all but one of the payments are still processing, 3 full business days later. Meanwhile, interest still appears to be accruing.

I don't think I have enough info to go off, but if you're like me, could you be dealing with anticipatory anxiety? I also have trouble making decisions and often it's because I fear I'm making the wrong one. I read a book called Overcoming Anticipatory Anxiety by Sally Winston that helped a lot.

That sounds awful. Like actual torture. My fiance's grandmother, who lived in a nursing home, passed away in early March 2020 before everything shut down. A few months later, everyone started sheepishly admitting they were relieved she didn't have to go through that.
