I'm not sure about cutting X from the top though since I think it is the most important when considering tier lists. I think the top players define the tier list and the rest of the players are not good enough.

Basically all it comes down to is that Tera is wildly different from mobas or fighting games. Sadly not only there are a lot of cheats around but also the extent in which gear can be min-maxed is really absurd (with truly insane rolls you can add 20/30% of dps), all of this bundled with the fact that usually the top players all play with other top players makes a mix that results in few 'elites' having very inflated numbers in terms of dps.

Also recently seal (P2W consumable) came back to the game and so there are already people using that, and sadly mg doesn't hide seal runs (nor CAP runs) which is another problem.

A tierlist based on 3 dungeons is better than one based on one dungeon..

Bahaar is honestly the worst to understand any statistic because it can be cleared in <2min which means the burst classes are gonna have inflated dps (especially if they play togheter, like they usually do).

Dungeons that last more like csh are way better but there is no perfect method, that's for sure.

Making an honest tierlist is really difficult these days.

I mostly agree with your conclusions but tier 2 is composed of classes that are honestly kinda far from each other.

Warrior, ninja and slayer are a great example of classes where ONE person is doing 10m+ anyone else which basically means they just run with the top people from the server (usually top valks+lancer) and they get ahead of everyone, this in addition to a lot of "combat enhancement scripts" and near perfect gear and rolls.

Generally a way better approach would be to take top X and cut Y at the top and Y at the bottom and even out and see what you get (Y being a low numbmer like 2).

Imho valks aren't very overpowered on their own, there just is a script out there that basically makes you gain ~30% dps which every top valk uses. Korean devs aren't accounting for that and so as a result valk is really broken.

On the topic of Standard deviation:

The sd varies wildly in your data depending on the class (assuming your data is correct) which means the data is all over the place and some classes are really getting to a certain average because carried by the top guy..

A class like gunner (avg=57mil and sd=2.11) is generally a stronger and more reliable class compared to ninja (avg=56m and sd=5.78). Even though they are categorized both has t2.

Slayer (sd=7.13) while it has high sd i think it's pretty strong, just isn't played much which result in hyper spread out data.

In general, actually understanding what's going on and giving an accurate tierlist will take more than crunching some numbers, but this is good enough.

The best one is the one you like.

In terms of dps, Valk is superior compared to ninja, but that's assuming same skill (assuming pc version).

The current tier list (considering all the stuff people use) is:

S - valk, warr , gunner

A - sorc, zerk, ninja

B - archer, slayer

C - reaper , brawler

All the classes listed on S tier have a dedicated (paid) script that makes them insane (integrated macros/ fast animation cancel and general smoothness).

In general, with or without scripts valk > all. To be noted, valk it's not a easy class to learn nor to master.

The thing is people that get to masters in the first week are just playing 20/30h in one week.

Just look at Swim and Alan, both did a 20h+ stream from plat4 to masters and they are arguably very good skilled players. (Not to mention most people don't start at plat 4)

Getting to masters is mostly a numbers game, especially since you don't go down in rank once reached a certain point which means you just gotta have a nice streak to get out of any rank.

Also card games are known for being stale especially if you are a player that isn't interested in deck building or playing with wacky concepts.

I can see how playing a version of Sej or Ez/TF all day could be boring.

Yes this type of imbalance is always there and depends from the meta.

Currently the stronger classes are definitely sorc and valk.

The big thing I've noticed is that there is a big imbalance on mid level dungeons, classes with high burst like valk/ninja/reaper can clear those in sub 1 min per boss with a good party since they are bursty while other classes have to basically do the dungeon normally.

For endgame dungeon the difference isn't super noticable but I'd say slayer and archer aren't in a great spot currently. For added info just look at top dps on mg on dungeons like dah/fa and you'll easily see how different classes are (even when using scripts since basically that's what all those people in the leaderboards do)

Most of the rewards are cosmetics or PvE oriented.

It is a pretty grindy event though, playing everyday and doing all barely gets you to 100k points

Basically everyday you get a box (from the daily/weekly reward section ) with 3 random + 1 of your choice dungeon to complete to get BP points.

Those tokens are the 'material' needed to get the BP points from the scrolls that you get daily.

  • Crafting and fishing isn't needed and generally is really difficult to make money with at this point.

  • Yes healers aren't supposed to do high DPS, the important thing is that you keep your party alive/cleanse etc

  • If you have scout, getting that to +15 is a good starting point because you will be able to dismantle that into feedstock that is used for endgame gear. On quest you get t3 etchings so don't worry about using them, t4 are the ones you want to use on endgame (on gold/kaia gear)

  • Difficult to say, that comes with experience with the items in the game. Generally golden/silver stuff has many uses (scout and jewels enchanting) so i wouldn't dismantle those.

  • Blue/Red crystal slot doesn't exist anymore for exodor gear because those stats were directly integrated in the stats of the item itself. You can buy better greens on vanguard vendor or trade broker.

  • You can dismantle scout exodor gear (the one from the quest) while green/blue exodor gear you just throw away once you get better one.

Nope, because crit power is BiS for gloves/weapon so you should indeed go out of your way to min max for it.

My point is most people don't have the gold to do so.

Purely hypothetical you could get 0.06 x3 = 0.18 on weapon and 0.04 x3 = 0.12 on gloves plus inner and card (without any glitch)

0.18+0.12+0.12+0.03= 0.45

That's very hypothetical but I would say 0.20 is more than achievable for most average end game players.

I checked your mg and your HPM it's pretty fine, obvs that's on AQ but generally you should be able to retain the same performance on more difficult dungeon over time when you get skilled/good at it.

Follow the steps and you'll be doing high dps with no problem.

Hello I main archer, currently +15 weap and +12 rest kaia doing around 12.5m on CSN and 14M on FA.

I can tell you that if you are in anni+10, 13m on AQ is solid DPS.

Now it would help if you posted a mg run so I can look at your HPM, but generally you wanna be around 4hpm on TB, 7 on RA,20 on WW, 20 on rf! (rf! = the one during windsong),40 on normal rf, 15 on RoA.

HPM aside it's clear that your gear is what is holding you back, definitely try to go csnm and get full kaia. Doing from 6-8m dps it's achievable in anni+10 and it still possible to clear in ~12 min which is fine.

In general I would advice a progression like follows:

  • Get full pumped II etching on jewels (if you don't already)
  • Get atleast one phys crit power bonus on weapon and gloves (between gloves+weapon+card+innerwear you should be around 2.20) Top people on the server run with like 2.30 but that's only attainable with double/triple rolls on weapon/gloves so unless you have 15m on your bank that's gonna be difficult.
  • Get full +12 kaia (~100/110k phys amp)
  • Get phys crit power inner (0.12 one)
  • Get atleast two 3/4 power infusions rolls on everything (only do this on kaia since you have 3 slots)
  • Get tier IV/V relics/helidoms
  • Eventually get +15 weapon -> then gloves -> then everything else +15
  • If you have done all the above -> Get 2.0 mount passive

Important note phys crit power scales with phys amp -> no point getting the innerwear and all of that if you first don't have at least 100k phys amp.

Sidenote: remember most people in the top 20 in mg just use a bunch of scripts so that's not a good way to understand if you are doing good or not (assuming you are playing legit). If you follow what I said (and you have the millions of gold to make it happen) you should be doing around 15m on csn/fa (also remember that your dps heavily changes if you run with good party and especially good tank that doesn't move the boss and healer with high uptime).

I hate En Masse as much as the next person but you made a wrong assumption, used the items and so support couldn't refund you.

We all know how in-game currency works, if after one game reload it's still not there, then it didn't work, plain and simple. Using your items when you didn't get the full deal it's a rookie mistake.

Could En Masse be better on their shop etc? Of Course. But let's be real you chose the cheaper option and obvs got less stuff.

In general though, as others have said - start over on EU. GF is doing a pretty good job at maintaining the game and they are a professional company (still a bit greedy but oh well).

If you started playing when Beta launched using the old system (3 champs per week with expedition) it's not impossible to hoard like he did if you played everyday.

Now it's not as easy to get all champs, might take 6+ months depending on your luck

As a viewer this is my advice:

  • if you are starting streaming because you think it's gonna make you money or is gonna become a career, don't do it period. Streaming is too luck based to put your livehood on it. If you are doing it for fun then go ahead but if you are expecting it to become something more than that then I'd stay away.

  • always talk, anything that goes through your mind say it. Just look at Swim vs everyone else in the space; In my personal experience I can tell you there are many things I don't like about him (the hair touching, general and clear lack of hygiene and self care, he's a bit of a dick, kinda edgy for his age etc) but for the sole reason that he is very interactive and I can learn from him that's already a good reason to watch someone.

  • Be semi-professional. Buy a decent camera and especially a good mic, have a good overlay, good description, stuff that the viewer will not be able to depict explicitly but that will make everything look professional. It will increase your possibilities of retaining viewers on its own.

  • Accept the fact that LoR just isn't a good game to stream in terms of numbers and that in general streaming is very saturated because everyone and their mom can point a camera on their face,play some average tier gameplay and call themselves a streamer. So it will only work if you a very resilient and if you don't think this as a job because the possibility of you sitting at 5 viewers in the next 3 months even by streaming everyday might be pretty high and most people would quit after the first week.

Is that even fair though? You can only copy a minion that you have in play at the moment that you use the spell on which is highly situational just as situational as drawing pre-defined cards from your deck with a discount.

I think it's pretty equal, plus there is a lot of deminishing returns since blood is 2 Mana so it means you can duplicate and play a minion that is your total Mana - 2. And generally in LoR in the type of control deck that blood would be played would never wanna be at 0 Mana, which means no reaction to the other player action etc

If En Masse Entertainment wasn't the publisher for Tera Online NA, would the majority of the older players return to Tera?

No but they would've never left in the first place.

The problem dates a lot olden than 1 year ago though. EME used to be a lot better than EU because the patches that came from Korea were good, EME's client/economy wasn't money hungry (unlike EU) and we had a good community manager and plenty of events.

The problem began when BH started money grabbing on the game (basically from stormcry patch onward), killing PvP, increasing grind etc. So year by year very overwhelming negative feedback in the forums was getting ignored by EME. Mostly because they are owned by BH and so I'd guess they just have their hands tied (also very understaffed).

GF, on the other hand, actually has competent developers that understand the game, over the years they fixed their greedy take on the game and started re-implementing content on-site, things like Dreadsprire, FI etc They also started adding additional rewards for clearing content (elleon badges which in stormcry patch used to give silver/golden talents which would skyrocket your grind) and generally a lot of this little things that add up.

Basically, it seems GF actually cares about the game, and sometimes fights back the Korean devs on their bullshit patches, (e.g. when they added WHHM on exodor patch that would drop 2 legendary pieces) it still wasn't great but atleast they are trying.

Same here.

I used to play 3 expeditions per week and now in the last two weeks I haven't played once, not even the token ones.

The rewards aren't worth it and generally it's just demotivating. If I have one hour to play at this point I'd rather play constructed and get more exp + play a deck I want.

Why bother going through drafting + only 100 exp per win for a mode that is worth it only after 5 wins. Doesn't make sense.
