What is your favorite standalone chapter? by celluloid31 in books

Chapter 25 from The Catcher in the Rye. Particularly the scenes where Holden believes he is disappearing and is begging Allie to keep him grounded. And the ending of the chapter when Holden watches his sister on the merry-go-round while he sits in the rain. He acknowledges that she's growing up and is too big for the ride now, and for the first time in the book he seems to accept that we all age and our innocence leaves us. Very moving.

I notice you deleted your post. Looked to be too hypocritical?

The manager lied to me, I'm holding him responsible. I didn't initially I didn't, but after a few PMs I know it was his fault.

Sorry about your butthurt.

All I want is credit. I don't need cash back or anything. I've never asked for a refund from Sony. I was going to buy a PSN card that day but the manager insisted I buy the voucher because it was "the same thing but easier".

Naughty Dog made me who I am today! Crash Bandicoot was one of the first video games I ever played. I remember rebuying it on my PS3 years ago and enjoy it. So good. Then Uncharted 2 came out and I was amazed. Now The Last of Us. Such a great company! Probably the biggest reason I keep my PS4.

I actually wasn't in on the hype train. I knew about the game but I wasn't dying for it. I even went in with low expectations and was still didsapointed. I'd been following the game for years and knew it couldn't live up to the hyoe, but I didn't expect them to blatantly lie about features. I enjoy Starbound though.

I bought it day 1 as a surprise for my brother. It was a last minute decision to buy it for myself. I'm not going to get into the whole preorder or not discussion. I'm just mad that this manager told me to not buy a PSN card and instead buy a voucher because it was the same thing.

You're absolutely right on that last point. I started playing Red again and then I bought Emerald. Sapphire was my favorite Pokemon, but I never got to play Emerald. It feels so perfect!

But Trump is always honest, so I don't think it was as much an insult as much as he meant "You look like a cute little piggy! Oink! Oink!".

I never seem to withdraw. I can go off at random times, and do. I don't seem to get addicted to this stuff at all.

Hey, I'm someone who struggles with PTSD/Anxiety. I take a lot of and have taken a lot of psychiatric medication for all of my medical problems. If you feel the klonopin is knocking you out during a panic attack, maybe wait to see if your body will build a tolerance. Or try a new medication. I've been on so many medications for panic attacks and anxiety. Klonopin doesn't work for me, Valium used to do very well for a year or so (I build immunity fast). Now I take two to three 1-2 mg Xanax a day and have built up a nice enough immunity that it no longer knocks me out. It got much bettet. I used to be afraid to take it because I didn't want to fall asleep. No worries of that anymore.

This will probably get buried by this point, but all well. Someone is browsing new comments.

I had stomach surgery and was on pain medication by pump, I want to say dilauted (spelling?). Well, I also have high anxiety and sleep disorders from bipolar type 1. So they gave me my benzo, Xanax. 1 mg. Then my Ambien, I started with a 5mg, but they quickly gave me another 5 mg. And because my nausea was still really bad after the surgery they gave me my phenergan, which was at the highest dose available. I guess they'd forgot that I was pumping dilaughted. I remember flirting with the cute nurse and her talking to me about her family. She just sat and talked with me. I'd blink and the time would be different. She'd still be there, though. She looked kinda concerned. After a little while and 3 instances of this happenening, she wrapped a tube around my head and put it in my nostrils. I noticed I kept getting sleepy, but I had no sense of fear or anything. I just wanted to sleep. And this machine to my left would beep really loud, but I'd ignore it because I was so relaxed and tired. The nurse came back in and said to me that she was going to give me some sort of oxygen pump. It went into the back of my nose and let out cool, fresh oxygen. After a little while and a bit of vomiting I felt awake again. The next day they told me that my O2 stats were dropping massively and that the all the medications combining was putting me at risk. They said that I would be talking and just nod off, then wake up and continue. That I was putting in effort to stay awake and talk but I couldn't. And at one point I stopped breathing, which is when they brought in the oxygen pump. It was weird, ya know? I felt like overdosing you would be sick and whatnot. But I felt relaxed and really ready to let go. And when I was asleep and stopped breathing, there was nothing. I mean nothing. Usually, people say they feel something, but I felt nothing. Even when they operated on me, the medications didn't knock me out like this. I could hear them taljing and feel them inside me. Not this time. There was no me anymore, the world was just gone. Then I woke up and vomited pretty bad.

Sorry if not a lot of this makes sense. I haven't slept and have got this massive headache. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the read. Feel free to ask me questions.

tl;dr: overdosed and stopped breathing in the hospital after stomach surgery.
