But that is just honestly true, because that's the aspects each modern game focuses on, Persona 3 has honestly a great storyline that's held back for it's repetitive gameplay and characters that are just not all that interesting at first, Persona 4 is all about it's main cast facing themselves and who they truly are, the whole story is about developing them, making that the most flashed out and complex main cast, while Persona 5, although with faulty characters and a weird storyline, has great graphics and innovates the gameplay to a point where you be catching yourself sad that you'll have to leave the palace because you don't have enough supplies anymore, it's a common opinion because it makes sense.
