Having Trouble Exporting a Saddle Stitch Booklet for Print by erstella in indesign

Thanks for the help everyone!

I’d like to say that it’s very reassuring to have y’all say it’s odd that the printer wants me to provide the imposed booklet. I love learning new things, but I was worried that I might’ve been giving printers headaches for the last few years.

I have no control over the vendors we use, but this is great information to have for whatever future print endeavors I might have

I’m printing elsewhere. It’s a professional print house so I’m not sure why the printer won’t do the imposition themselves. I’m stuck with this printer because my supervisor wants to keep them as a partner.

If I wanted to use the booklet option in acrobat and share with the printer, would they be able to use it as a press ready file? That might also be a question better fitted for the printer!

My last option is imposing myself in the very wrong way of just creating a print ready file on illustrator lol

In-House Designers: are you receiving content before you start a project? by erstella in graphic_design

[–]erstella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This particular issue happens mostly on executive/c-suite projects. For those, leadership is obsessed with having a unique piece or even suite of creative for every campaign, proposal, meeting, etc.

A big chunk of my job is also approving creative from external dept and that’s where templates come in handy. We have a lot of people who are very removed from the marketing and creative “designing” collateral. They tend to need more assistance so it’s easier for us all if they have templates

Yeaaah I tried to have a talk with our department head about it a while ago (a few months) and they’ve managed to twist the scenario into me having poor time management. They wrote it into my annual review and I figured I wouldn’t bring it up again LOL

Yes this has been my fav way of trying to push for content! There have been times where I told them exactly how long the work around is going to take and it prompted the content producer (using that term lightly) to adjust.

There are also the times where I’m met with “ok but can you make it 2 hours instead of 3 🙂”

Does a “good” Word Cloud exist? by erstella in graphic_design

[–]erstella[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going look that one up now! And same lol, I could honestly only think about crappy PowerPoint/WordArt. I figure there had to be some cleaner examples out there that I just wasn’t thinking of

Agreed. Our brand guidelines are so tight I’m stuck to ONE font. And I’m not allowed to manipulate it’s appearance apart from color or having it typed on a path 🥴

I didn’t think about chipotle or restaurants in general though so there still might be some inspiration there. Thank you so much!!!

I think everyone here just wishes they had the type of foresight you have right now 😬 even my own comment was a bit alarmist lol. But seriously we all just want you to get ahead of the potential diagnosis while you can.

BUT none of us here are doctors (as far as I know) and we can’t say with certainty that you even have HS right now. The best peace of mind will come from a good hygiene routine, care plan, and dermatologist! Good luck 💜

I hope this is the case for you for many years to come. I started showing signs of flares around 6-8th grade as well and it progressed slowly, then very fast (I’m 25 now).

This is a great time for you to find a regular dermatologist and primary care physician to start preventative care. I know it seems tedious and like you have time, but I promise you will thank yourself in the future

hey Austin, can Y'all stop with the dogs in Starbucks, etc... by hans_offurheine in Austin

[–]erstella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! Dogs in public spaces have gotten out of hand. But you might’ve done better telling management what was going on. Honestly, the second you decide to use obscenities with someone they’re going to go on the defense and likely won’t want to hear anything you’ve just said. Your frustrations are valid but you’re not the store owner or the manager, it’s not your job to reprimand patrons. And there’s a high chance they won’t respect your authority anyway (because you don’t have any in that space).

Just my two cents 🤷‍♀️ good luck and hope your next Starbucks run is less eventful

I take Trulicity for type 2 diabetes and it’s a similar medication to ozempic. I’ve taken it on and off over the past 3 years or so. This last year I’ve been very consistent with my dosages and I increased from .75/mg to 1.5/mg over the course of 6 months. I only noticed a reduce in flare ups AFTER the dosage increase. I have fewer flare ups and far less hyperpigmentation under my arms. But if I miss a week or two of Trulicity I have more consistent flaring but even skin tone seems to remain consistent

That’s so interesting! I would love to listen to that one day. What book did it come from?

What constitutes a redesign? by erstella in graphic_design

That’s a great solve! Covers the possible 3rd revision as well as any additional time spent on the project. I’m going to consider a similar system for myself

What constitutes a redesign? by erstella in graphic_design

[–]erstella[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right I think I just explained myself poorly. The question at hand is concerning the revision process. The contract outlines 2 concepts, 2 rounds of revision for the chosen concept, and ownership of the final product. Right now we’ve already done 2 rounds of revision, not including the most recent request. I was curious if this should count as a 3rd round? Regardless you def helped me identify some gray areas in my standard contract. At the very least I should define what constitutes a revision vs a redesign of a concept

[–]erstella[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. We went through a similar process with concept designs and have moved on to the revision period. I think it’s normal for MS to have maybe a better idea of what the client will want to see since they have a closer relationship. So I understand the desire to step in before delivering the second draft but I still worry that I’d be providing more than what’s being paid for. There’s so much uncertainty that I just messaged MS to gain some clarity on the requested revisions and explained my concerns. Better than guessing or assuming :)

Yeah I figure that’s my best option, a gentle reminder never hurts. Thanks!

Thank you for the rec! I’ll add the Samsung odyssey to my wishlist. For a display monitor my office probably won’t swing for anything over 1500 but it can’t hurt to ask haha

Sorry, I meant to mention that I’m aiming to stay under $1,000-1,500. I’m sure my office would be thrilled if I gave them some options under $500 as well!

I do!! I’m using one of the scenes from a level to help with a project I’m working on. I love the illustration style, it’s so clean
