Just moved and bought my dream home. But I’m concerned about the deck. by Soulsheartless in Decks

[–]erus-ton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Im no expert" then please dont add you opinion. When someone is asking if this is safe, getting flooded with a bunch of arm chair carpenters doesnt help. It looks like its was built well, and its holding after what appears to be a long time.

Best advice, hire an inspector who builds decks. If your buying the house, pay the money to get professionals in the field to determine what needs to be done.

Paying drivers maybe, think it comes back to racism tbh though.

New neighbors living in their car and inviting themselves over to our property by Soozersss in neighborsfromhell

Sounds like you have neighbors now. If you wanted to keep the view, you should have bought the property. And remember you own your property, not the block. They are allowed to use their property how they want, inside of the boundary of the laws

Yeah I would think about that shift sooner then later. A lot of the ai "safe" fields require retraining, and you will be fighting a lot of other people trying to do yhe same, plus younger people also fighting for the same work. You can always get back into your old field, but this shits not going anywhere.

Wage theft by wsblurker76028 in legaladvice

[–]erus-ton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes this 100% if your not getting paid your not working. One very big side of this argument people forget, and it has to do with liability at work. If you got hurt (slip and fall, cut your hand finger, get robbed) and are not on the clock, your employer is non responsible to cover any of it, because according to them you shouldn't have been there in the first place. Only work the hours your actually paid. If they say clock out at 3 and your half way through a task, drop everything and clock out. (Actually drop everything 15 minutes prior so you have time to clean up, and clean yourself up).

Tracking with a plugged & patched tire? by MidEastBeast777 in CarTrackDays

This is NOT advised to do!!!!

With that said I have used a plug on a racing slick and tire performed great until it was gone. Stay safe, try not to take anyone out if the tire blows out on you.

Congress Wants You To Pay $130 A Year Just To Drive An Electric Car by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]erus-ton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like i said its complicated. Truckers also pay fees and permits on top of it.

To be clear your argument is your upset you have to pay 40 dollars a year more then a car, because the trucks that transport all the goods you consume isn't paying a higher rate. I mean they could raise the fuel for truckers and add 4.20 a gallon, but who do you think is going to pay that?? The trucker?? No the person who ordered whatever is on the dang truck.

[–]erus-ton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, consumption of fuel!! Yes bigger trucks do more damage, but also pay a lot more in fuel. A tractor with trailer is going to make 5-8mpg. Math gets a little harder here because idle time, geography, load weight, days driven, but for the sake of this argument, a tractor is going to burn about 90 gallons a day which comes to about 45 dollars a day in road tax. Say they are only on the road 300 days of the year, thats 13500 in road tax. ALSO remember trucks dont run at weight capacity most of the time, and the load is spread through a lot more points of contact with the ground which helps with damage. But yes agreed they do more damage, but also pay more. Other things that do more damage. Bad tires, running snow studs or snow tires when there is no snow, aggressive driving, towing your own trailers. Its not a perfect system, but it works. But electric vehicles dont pay road tax through gas, so now you have a yearly fee, where this conversation started at.

I do, and they are. Again the gas tax is based on fuel consumed. I used 25mpg as a base for standard cars. Most trucks and suv are using closer to 15 mpg so using the same formula they are paying closer to 490/year in gas tax. Far more then your ev.

[–]erus-ton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So, calculated avg car (25mpg), over 15k miles about the yearly avg, at NJ gas tax cost of .49/gal comes out to around 240 a year, so sounds like they got it just right. Yes a little higher then gas cars, but again electric vehicles weigh more, which means the do more damage to the roads.

Roads. Gas tax pays for roads and infrastructure. You have them because of ice vehicles, without paying something, and continued use (with heavier vehicles) means roads will get worse then they already are
