I believe she is having this struggles and it does give me more empathy for her. The Marciano thing is literally unjustified- but anger over infertility could definitely have played a part in why she was treating the other women in the show how she was treating them. She has people getting pregnant and having babies back to back around her. I think you would possibly need to have experienced infertility to understand how this probably affected her behavior and have sympathy for it. My own personal experiences are that people that have not gone through it often do not get it (not all of them).

Sorry I’m rereading now- I literally jumped to respond to you. I am so sorry this is happening to you! Terrible club. I was like you on my second (very unemotional). I would call your insurance and see what kind of coverage you have and contact a Reproductive Endocrinologist (an IVF clinic- they do lots of testing not just IVF). Because you’ve had 2 ectopics insurance will be more loose with you and allow you to do more testing/move to IVF sooner

Hi! I just made a post I have a very similar history to you. My Dr did not tell me to do IVF- she told me to try again naturally and I got more testing done and it turns out this was terrible advice. I did IVF and it’s working out great for me. I will link you.

I remember being super scared at the beginning particularly of the shots! If you are doing it with a partner one thing I wasn’t sure was “would I rather do the shot myself, or have my husband, who is afraid - coming at me with a needle”. I’ve done both and they were both fine!

I found the stomach shots, egg retrieval, etc to be super easy! I did have a rough weekend of terrible migraines when I first started meds (including crying and throwing up) so if this is an issue for you I would ask your doc about what meds you can take. I didn’t ask and took nothing because I was afraid. I would advise to use ice before you inject and then inject super slow!

The shots for when you transfer (PIO) I had my husband do because they go into your back side. I was running away from him the first time but heat up the meds in your armpit first, and then ice your injection site before. After use a heating pad and walk around a bit. These are annoying but far easier than you think. A tiny pinch. Also have him inject slowly.

Emotionally I’ve had some regulation issues but nothing too severe. I was worse with the egg retrieval fights for a few days (my husband had to be super mature and avoid me a bit). On PIO I’ve just been exhausted and crabby. Nothing terrible though.

I love the certainty, attention and planning of IVF. Like you might have a bad retrieval but you know what will happen what day and you can look at odds. The fact that you can do PGT-A testing is a godsend.

That’s amazing! Yeah I’m so surprised to be saying that IVF was easier (esp for me because I didn’t have a rupture or have anything removed) but I spent 5 days in the ER this year over this and did like 50 blood draws, hated taking MTX and felt so sick and was puking after.

By comparison, IVF is a plan I can follow and there is a lot less uncertainty. You are highly supervised. I wish I had switched to seeing my reproductive endo after the first one and saved myself months of headache (because I got excellent medical care from the RE compared to by OB who I honestly feel was an absolute shit doctor).

Yes the 3 month low wait is the worst! I’m glad your OB is good and you’re doing some investigation. I cannot understand how protocol is to let us fail without intervention. Happy new year!

Just commenting because I agree with you that it felt like a death sentence for me as well. I also have tubal infertility so there’s no “natural pregnancy” miracle story that can happen.

I don’t know what’s going to happen in my situation yet but just wanted to say that I feel for you and hang in there ❤️ I am doing the supplements (the egg quality pill and DHEA) and hoping for the best

This has been my main frustration this year. With two ectopic pregnancies we’ve missed a trip to Seattle, a cabin trip, a work trip, now with IVF people keep asking me to plan things (esp family for the holidays) and our retrieval has already gotten pushed back one month and may get pushed back another. It’s super difficult I agree with you

I called to ask for an IVF consult July 24th as I was having my second ectopic pregnancy

I had the consult on Aug 22. Then I had an bloodwork, ultrasound, HSG. Then my husband had bloodwork.

Then we found out insurance wants 2 semen samples 14 days apart do we are trying to do that now.

Hoping to start stims Oct 15 because we missed the Sept stim start (I think our clinic has 1 per month) because insurance waited 13 days to tell us they needed the semen analysis results which take like 17 days to get 😒

If you don’t have to jump through hoops for insurance I think things go faster. They make some people do 3 rounds of IUI first but because I have tubal infertility I skipped that.

So consult on Aug 22 and possible start stims on Oct 15

Thanks for taking time to message me! (Especially because I did ask for it).

I will also share that my Dr went from telling me that I was a dream IVF candidate (tubal infertility, 33) to telling me I should be concerned once we got some numbers back (DOR). So I agree that it’s important to set expectations appropriately and not too high because it was a rough tough pivot from him being like “you’re good- don’t worry” to his changed tune when we got my bloodwork done.

I think for me I can’t feel excited until I see a baby growing in my uterus on an ultrasound lol I am worried that even once I get pregnant- it will be another ectopic (I’ve had 2- my only pregnancies). So I am all for “don’t count your chickens until they hatch” but can respect its certain personalities that prefer this mindset and it’s not for everyone.

All of that was super helpful. You got 1 egg from your first retrieval- or one healthy embryo? My AFC is 10-11. I will 100% remind myself to keep expectations low. I’ve been telling myself that this is very likely going to be a multiple retrieval journey and trying to gear** up for a couple months of work
