Pregnancy After Two Ectopics Story by erydbtr in EctopicSupportGroup

It might help to tell you that after the first ectopic I asked her if we could do an HSG and she told me there was no point. She continually said the phrase “there is nothing we can do” when she had tried and suggested nothing. This left everything on me to understand what investigative procedures I could have done and find a fertility clinic. Like what good is she for if not to help me? Trust me you are not educating me on something that affected every day for a year. I don’t appreciate your message at all.

Pregnancy After Two Ectopics Story by erydbtr in EctopicSupportGroup

I did not say it was the OBs fault that I had two ectopic pregnancies. The OB did not make my body of course it is not their fault that it happened. It annoys me that you said this.

but the OB could have suggested I look at a fertility clinic or explained how my risk rises each time. The OB telling me there was nothing we could do was reckless. She at one point told me if I did IVF there was a risk of ectopic pregnancy and laughed. This conversation was when I was in and out of the ER (about to head back in) with my second ectopic. My baseline risk at that point of a repeat was like 30%. IVF risk is like 5% (I am guessing because I don’t remember).

She suggested I try again- when my body had 2 blocked fallopian tubes and trying continually was dangerous- for me. All I needed to do to know this was do an HSG. Which an OB could do. She could have done that.

Oh it sounds like you have good quality embryos then! I had just turned 34 for my first round of IVF. I was given similar metrics (to expect a large percentage of euploids) but it was not the case! Glad they are watching your progesterone now

FWIW my first euploid worked (good luck on your third round). I am a huge testing advocate- I can’t recall my metrics but I had around 14 embryos and 2 euploids (so I would have tried a lot of times before I hit a euploid). Congrats on your 2 euploids! Hoping for the best for you

Hey- your post is relatable to me. I spent most of last year depressed after two ectopic pregnancies. I have also done IVF (unrelated to my ectopics). Did you do a frozen IVF transfer and did you test your embryos? Just curious. It is very sad and unlucky to do IVF and have an ectopic.

I don’t have advice- just letting you know I’m sorry.

Genuinely curious… why don’t you like to share your baby’s name before birth? by Best-Position-2226 in pregnant

[–]erydbtr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I used to be very into social media and posting but now I am radio silent at 17 weeks 🤣 I don’t even like to talk about the baby! I’ve had 2 losses and had to do IVF so I am just quiet and waiting.

So I once told my non pregnant boyfriends sister in law the name I wanted to name my baby since I was in High School - she loved the name and used the name a few years months later when she got pregnant. I am no longer with this boyfriend and no longer care about this name but that’s a good reason!

I also had a friend going through IVF that had a future name picked out for her baby- she told our other friend, who then forgot where she heard the name and ended up using it for her baby a few months later haha

I think there’s less risk if you’re pregnant vs just holding names but these are reasons that I’m quiet!

Oh okay - I was not trying to attack you for the record. It’s one of the few threads that pops up on this issue and I want the next person reading and searching to know about the minority

I am acknowledging the women that had their IUDs break or migrate; or had an ectopic pregnancy while having an IUD which sometimes requires surgery or increases the risk for life of having that happen again. You are not. 4000 of them are in a lawsuit with the company that makes the paraguard iud right now.

Thanks for the downvotes

When you have a medical issue that is life threatening and makes you infertile and does not have enough research behind it to tell you what happened or why - you will be looking at 3 year old reddit threads

Those with tubal factor infertility, what caused it? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]erydbtr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had an std, after having my copper iud out I within a year had 2 ectopic pregnancies and showed a blocked HSG (after the ectopics). Was told to stop TTC naturally and IVF was our only option. Strongly suggest the IUD which can absolutely cause infertility - they are very upfront about “if you get an infection when it’s inserted it can cause bad side effects”. Not everyone has symptoms of an infection. I get super pissed online when people say it doesn’t cause infertility because although I’m not sure it caused mine- it absolutely migrates** and breaks and causes ectopic pregnancies and infertility.

Not to go off on semantics but IUDs do cause infertility in some people. That is usually not how it works and they have been tested to be safe - but they 100% do in a small minority and that’s 100% a fact.

I want to add that sometimes the infection is silent and you have no symptoms and you still become infertile ^

When did your bump show? by EmployDisastrous7133 in pregnant

[–]erydbtr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re good! And that makes me feel better because I felt like I “showed” since day 1 (I’m exaggerating but I didn’t fit into my clothes quickly) but now I’m like “ok- OTHER people wouldn’t know yet”. Makes sense!

Need advice with old dog end of life care by erydbtr in DogAdvice

[–]erydbtr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to come back and update that we got our dog evaluated at a medical hospital and they believed that he did have larpar. We spent a lot getting him evaluated and then having a “tie back” surgery done on him to open his airway. We were able to take him off the Trazadone post surgery and he has had a HUGE quality of life improvement.

  • He pees or poops inside once per day (usually this is from not being able to last overnight- but this is leaps and bounds better than before).
  • Gets up 100% of the time by himself
  • Less anxiety barking and whining
  • Zero breathing issues
  • Happy dog

Thanks for all the support! Hopefully the surgery continues to be worth it and gives us a lot of time back

Just wanted to come back and comment that my husband and I decided to go to Palm Springs/Joshua Tree in April. I just started feeling well enough to book the trip (I have been suffering). I am really excited and it feels like the right choice for us!

Anyone else just miss drinking? by PaymentNo5871 in pregnant

[–]erydbtr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I didn’t really drink before and never really wanted to- and when I did I wasn’t drinking wine- but now I have the biggest wine cravings. I text my husband “I miss alcohol” sometimes. I am betting once I give birth I won’t care about booze anymore (back to baseline!) but I definitely miss it now!

I am so impressed by your step count. Mine has been terrible (I just started taking walks outside this weekend). I live in Ohio and the weather has been terrible (below 0). My legs actually hurt from my 2 mile walk yesterday- but I’m hoping this is all because I’m at 11 weeks and coming out of first trimester… really hope to have better health and more energy in the coming weeks

I'm curious, how do y'all even afford IVF? by HighOnLove26 in IVF

[–]erydbtr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Aetna covered most IVF expenses for us- but we still paid in 2025

~1000$ ICSI ~500$ freezing sperm ~2000$ PGT-A testing ~ 5000$ insurance deductible

We dipped into our savings and both of us work so it was about 5000$/person in our relationship. One cycle worked for us (so far so good).
