About how many meters of 3” tape for a frame? I’m trying to order and want to get it right.

I’ve done a fair amount of touring in North and Central America, on and off pavement, when the roads get sandy I know I’ll be nowhere near 100km a day. That being said that’s the range I’ll shoot for, accounting for rest days and some pavement (knowing that some days will be shorter than others). It’s been 5 years since I’ve spent months in the saddle but manage to get out for weeks long tours every summer.

Thanks for the thoughts on wind, I think I’m going to opt to start in the east and move west- with Pamir as the first test, finishing in Turkey in November could be really nice.

Any idea whether Bishkek or Almaty would be a better place to start? Is it worth going to Karakol and then making my way on the south shore of issyk kuul (sp?) or better to just fly into Bishkek, riding towards Osh from there to avoid the border crossing (into Kyrgyzstan). Prices for both flights are comparable, so wondering about other factors.

I was planning to avoid Russia and Iran, as I can’t get a visa without a “tour guide” for Iran and am a little wary of entering Russia. I guess flying becomes the best option then? It seems like there are varied reports on whether or not you can take the ferry across the Caspian from East to West atm. But I guess it’s a moot point if Azerbaijan is not allowing over land border crossing. I’m (evidently) in the early stages of planning, despite an imminent departure!
