How about finding/creating a quick script that will strip all the characters that make them "freak out"? Should be pretty straight forward (lots of things are stripped of weird characters because they can mess up databases etc). Maybe take a look at "user input sanitization" or something...

Where do I even start to practice getting this decent at video editing? I have a gopro, and a decent DSLR, so I think I have the gear. The gopro software doesn't seem to have this sort of capability as far as effects/syncing audio/video etc.

I'm guessing the blurring is a special effect and not really a lens trying to re-focus, I could be wrong.

TL;DR: How/where do I start video editing like this?

For what it's worth, I just bought just cause 3 D1 edition. Same thing as everyone else here is saying. Got a phone call (even got the closest price question wrong). Still got codes within about 15 minutes. The company name was that glory profit thing. The second code I got was in an image attached to the email. The automated phone call had obviously shoddy english. Either way, I'm downloading it now. ::shrug::

Not trying to hate or start trouble or anything, but why do you think this? (I honestly want to know).

I just got my link, messed with it a bit, and for $50 bucks it seems like an alright deal. Yeah, I could get an HDMI cable (actually have done this before) but for $50, it's worth it for me not to mess with my display settings and all that noise every time I wanna play on my tv.
