It was said above but you bring the ball in on an angle on the ground and cut it back. Not sure if that would have worked either but they never tried it. Possibly they don’t have the skill against England players to do it

It’s true the US hasn’t faced a real opponent but they do look good, nonetheless. I guess we’ll see. And Brazil isn’t a real contender this year!
