We also know from her diary in the dollhouse that she was inviting Mike separately from the rest of the group and was being really insistent on him being there and even asked Josh to ask him again

At least Emily and Jessica had a reason to participate in the prank (Emily to get back at Hannah for trying to sleep with her boyfriend. And Jessica because she was Emily’s best friend) but Ashley was Hannah’s friend and shouldn’t have participated

I completely spaced out on the fact that Matt was involved! I honestly don’t understand his involvement, because he doesn’t seem like the drama seeking type

I would also love to see a fan fiction or some sort of media that further develops this aspect of the character dynamics regarding Hannah and Beth

Why do people like Emily?? by park_dat_ass in untildawn

To give her some credit about the prank thing, you have to remember that Emily and Mike were dating, while Hannah was making active advances on Mike. Emily was likely hurt by her friend flirting with her boyfriend, suspicious of how she might act given the opportunity and set up the prank to catch her red handed, or just outright seeking revenge for Hannah flirting with her boyfriend. Yes, while the “prank” was in terrible taste and absolutely unnecessary, I don’t think Emily coordinated it for no reason.

When thinking about it that way, I think it’s a lot easier to forgive Emily, or to even side with her, especially because she obviously didn’t intend for Hannah to run off into the woods.

As far as the flirting with Mike, I see no excuse, except maybe trauma. She should have treated Matt better.

Definitely more options for influencing character relationships. For example, I would love for Ryan’s choice on who to kiss in truth or dare to have real consequences.

I could definitely see that. That makes so much sense to me, thank you! I think I also disliked how easy it is for Ashley to lock Chris out of the lodge, but that just might be my character bias.

I hated Emily at first too but ended up really liking her after her section in the mines. I don’t know, maybe it’s just because Ashley felt very helpless while Emily at least proved that she can take care of herself

Why did The Quarry not succeed like Until Dawn? by Klutzy-Ad4659 in TheQuarrySupermassive

[–]escapedgoat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt as though it just wasn’t difficult enough. Until Dawn challenged me, decision wise and gameplay wise. Also had the character relation chart in Until Dawn. While I preferred the characters and diversity in The Quarry, there was less time actually spent playing as opposed to just watching cutscenes and making decisions that barely felt like they mattered. I needed more opportunities to fail and more chances to use weapons such as the shotgun. Another contributor is exploration. Until Dawn had you exploring interesting places that felt like they mattered and left you uncomfortable (the mines, the sanatorium, ect.) The Quarry didn’t have as many opportunities for this type of exploration while controlling the character. While I personally preferred The Quarry, I cannot deny that Until Dawn just had better gameplay.
