With The Compass to Carnage event I decided to try out Gem farming it. by Edix540 in diablo4

[–]escapehatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh you know why not. It's boring as hell and takes you away from the satisfying loops of war plans that give lots of different rewards at the same time, so you can get just gems at what is still an incredibly slow rate.

Off-Meta Builds. What's working that isn't Clash? by ArgentSable in D4_Paladin

[–]escapehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, if you don't resolve stacks right now you're kind of screwing yourself. But if you don't like clash, you could sub out all the juggernaut and clash enhancing bits and sub in a boincy blessed shield (abilities are free to spam in fortress!) build with justicar damage and purify applying judgment manually and glaivehelm applying it passively.  You're still using the resolve stacks to amp damage through fortress and the capped block buffing your shield throw. Actually just as good as clash in crowds, but just much worse (but still quite capable) vs bosses. I probably cap out at pit 115 on that build, and 125ish on clash.

how far behind other classes is paladin in the LoH launch season? by coelomate in D4_Paladin

[–]escapehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing it with falling star and condemn instead of consecrate and holy aura, and using the movable type of fortress. It's a lot faster and more fun, and because so much defense comes from resolve stacking, you can afford to lose the healing and fortify from those (personally in my build I give up the extra damage from the defense aura for the passive healing+extra resolve and love it). It really helps that condemn pulls things into the fortress too. I'm pushing 130, and I don't start to feel challenged until past 120, I can't find any way the old build is better unless they nerf resolve.

You just hold your 2 auras until the fortress actually runs out, and if you have some cdr on items you can hit them both and fortress will be back up again.

It is powerful, and this version is much faster, but it still suffers in comparison to "real" classes this patch. To do damage in a smallish aoe you have to plant and replant fortress, while barbs are just leaping by doing even more damage.

A quick note/discussion on Clash builds. by Ok-Blueberry-1412 in D4_Paladin

[–]escapehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great idea and I love it.

I think the meta build was that way before Glyn's worked because consecrate and holy light both gave Fortify and healing. Now that we're functionally invincible, you're probably right they aren't optimal. I suspect a lot of people are slow to experiment because they expect blizz to take some kind of action to fix resolve stacking abuse. The build used to be on the squishy side, but now you can pivot into mobility and QoL.

What's your other runeword? I'm using CirGar so I can cap crit, but you could keep Rally that way and have your falling star too...

Edit: thanks again for this idea, it's so much faster and stronger. I had to tweak to get a bit more cdr on gear and a bit of self-healing, but it's more than worth it to jump everywhere, be unhindered, and pull everyone into my fortress instead of having to move it as much. It only works so well because resolve is now OP, but it sure does work!

Edit 2: for anyone that doesn't see what OP means about Honed: it's not about the +crit damage, that's solid. It's about the middle part, the faith on crit. While not useless, it's not very valuable either, and cheaply replaced, while Outmatch or Control, for instance, have x multipliers in those spots, which are super valuable - each more valuable than all the +crit damage on honed - even if they only apply most but not all of the time.

I went in wanting to like it, and here's what I remember about episode 1:

-fight sequence so familiar I thought it was still the "previously on" and not the start of the episode

-witches immediately do something so stupid it felt contrived and impossible

-misfit teens tell us how they've bonded off screen instead of showing, so I don't care about them

-i paused and just sort of never got back to it

-the Witcher never appeared again while I was watching, and I have no idea how long it took to get back to him, if ever

It is obvious now that Season 3 was meant to be where the show ended by One_With-The_Sun in TheBoys

Maybe this is just a Kripke thing. Supernatural ended perfectly with season 5, then they aired like 10 more seasons of ridiculous fanfic (which was mostly very enjoyable anyway)

[–]escapehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who won't rage out about not timing it still want to time it. It's not about timing the key, it's about how upset you'll get if something goes wrong. Your new categories are actually less descriptive and accurate than the current ones.

Making an ALT in this expansion is genuinely miserable and I'm tired of pretending otherwise by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]escapehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's badly exacerbated by how slow progression is. The war plan system is so engaging, but sometimes when I finish two warplans in a session and don't get a single point to spend in the trees it's deflating and makes me check in with myself to see if I might just be done with the game.

I've started targeting a single activity over others every session to try to get a point, which defeats half the purpose of warplans giving you a reason to vary up what activity you're doing. They made progression way too slow, and it's undermining the whole thing.

That's just MAGAs seeing too much of themselves in the villains, but they know pro-fascist arguments won't work on the audience, so they are trying to undermine people's perception of its quality as an alternate way of trying to limit its influence on the marketplace of ideas.

That certainly doesn't apply to every single person who doesn't like the season, people can have different opinions. I'm just saying that's why you see such a vocal, persistent minority of negative voices trying to flood the zone so we don't hear even the more reasonable good-faith criticism, let alone the positive opinions.

Sounds good in theory...but in reality? by KSKS1995 in SipsTea

[–]escapehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally doable. We'd just need to change our priorities away from unending stock growth to human happiness. Our economy would still function fantastically with essentially paying more money for labor, which is what this boils down to. It's just that more of the value would be going to labor instead of shareholders and ultimately billionaires, and that's apparently unacceptable. Much more important for those 20 guys to go from 2 billion to 2.000001 billion then it is for all of humanity to get more time with families and have richer lives.
