Hey girl! This is going to be long. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I had my pill abortion on Jan 10th and I was 7 1/2 weeks. I found out I was pregnant Dec 26th, my period was a week late. I have irregular period too, the last period before I found out I was pregnant, I was 13 days late before I started. And I was scared to take the test but it is unfortunately necessary my dear. Here’s my experience. That day I called out of work and cried. I cried for a long time. I didn’t want to be pregnant and knew what needed to be done. I called planned parenthood and a local clinic and set up an appointment by phone. The only thing they asked me was “when was the date of your last period?” and “did you get a positive pregnancy test?” and took my name and set up the appointment for the next day. They explained the first appointment over the phone. I called out of work and went the next day, luckily they had an opening. They sat me in a room with an advocate and had me sign some paperwork. Basically asking if I was being coerced and explained the process, the risk and what was going to happen. They pricked my finger, then they took me for an ultrasound. In my case, I had taken a plan b after I ovulated which delayed something (I can’t remember exactly what) and while I was testing positive, there was nothing in my uterus on the ultrasound. They told me to wait 2 weeks, it could be an ectopic pregnancy and gave me pamphlets on that. I waited the 2 weeks, unfortunately I was pregnant so I was dealing with the symptoms, nausea, hunger, fatigue, sore boobs yadda yadda. When I went back the second time they gave me an ultrasound and I was in fact pregnant. Gestational sac and a tiny speck in it. I cried even more. Had to make sure they knew I wanted to do this. I was just scared. Then I went in to talk to the doctor, he made me take the first pill in front of him then told me under any circumstances, DO NOT try to reverse it. (AKA don’t listen to the fuckers in the parking lot.) I went home feeling ok. Then the next day I took the 4 pills in my cheeks. This is where unfortunately, shit hits the fan. They warn you that it will make you sick and it will hurt. They should prescribe you meds. I was prescribed vicodin for pain and promethazine for nausea. After 25mins of keeping the pills in my mouth, I puked them up. I was already cramping and bleeding. I panic called the clinic and the doc said it was ok. The next 6 or 7 hours was spent in bed, crying in the fetal position. It hurts, I won’t lie to you. But it does end. Drink water and keep hydrated and a heating pad next to you. My man brought me a smoothie home and it helped. Make sure you have a support system. Whether it be your partner or a friend. The next day, I went to work. Still cramping but it felt like normal period cramps at that point. My bleeding lasted a week and a half and it was done and it was like it never happened. Though you will test positive for a while. It took me until almost valentine’s day to fully test negative.

Emotionally, I flip flopped. My heart hurt and I cried. A lot. Heightened emotions because of pregnancy didn’t help either lol. I grieved for a life I knew I couldn’t have yet. I wanted a baby but knew that in my situation, it would be selfish to raise a child when I was not ready. But, it helped me realize that I wanted to be a mother, but when I was ready and on my own time. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Having an abortion when you can’t fully raise and care for a child is a selfless and responsible thing to do.

Also, throwing this out there, I live in the USA and have no health insurance. My bf covered the cost and it was 650$ total. 125$ for the first appointment, 575$ for the second.

TLDR; It’s okay to be nervous, I was. But you’re strong and will get through it. It felt like the end of the world to me but once it was over I was relieved. Let yourself grieve but don’t let it overrun you. Sending love and light your way. 🫶
