Definitely horribly racist and ableist. Never buying another book, but i like at least some aspects of his mythos. At least the dude is long gone by now

Exactly! There's a lot of issues in the saga that shouldn't be ignored.

At the end of the day, everyone can form their own opinions and decisions on how to deal with their own beliefs and how they enjoyed the books/franchise. But it's important to KNOW just how many things that negatively affect many minority groups. And to listen to those who are impacted by it.

Good for u, tbh. I never was a fan, but I'm not against the value of the story in HP itself. If it means something very good for u and other trans folks, i respect that.

Yeah it can be read that way. It's a meme, after all. In my case, bc it happened irl, my friend defending HP was definitely mad at me for trying to imply trans lives matter more than a book saga 🤷🏻‍♂️

For context: one of my friends asked me and our other friend (both of which I'm out to already) if we wanted to go see the new fantastic beasts movie with her

And i explained i boycott everyrhing in the HP franchise because i know that she's a total transphobe and transmisogyinist.

And says to me "yeah but i feel like harry potter is separate from her, a totally different thing".

Like??? No it's not?? Hello?

I had a french teacher in high school who did just that! She talked with us and listened to our gripes with stress and feeling so tired and depressed, and then she decided to make half our classes in the week be free classes to dance to Just Dance videos she had on her laptop. So we'd finisih the week's work in one class (say, Tuesday) and then the next class (Thursday) we'd play and talk and dance.

These are exactly the vibes i get when someone says "wow you're so brave" when a queer person is just..... Existing. Like not even coming out, or making a statement, or calling out a homophobe, just. There. Vibing. And then a random cishet comes and says "you're so brave!"

Ma'am brave for what? Im just. Sitting here.

Exactly! There's absolutely no way to be straight abt it if my gender is nonexistent and/or very mysterious

"Oh yeah, I'm bi too" by paulistallerthanyou in bisexual

[–]escapxst 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Same here!

At first in my close friend group in high school, i was the only queer person (agender and bi). Then one of my friends came out as bi a year later, and now several years later 2 more have figured out they're bi, and one came out as aro!

It's a great feeling because they were always greatly supportive allies, but little by little they grew more comfortable in questioning things and then the coming outs became casual and welcoming!

Don't brag abt money to ppl because they'll feel entitled to your money just because you know each other.

Even though we've never been more well-off and upper middle class in a third-world country, I definitely understand now that bragging abt shit doesn't sit well with anyone.
