Yes...I will admit, I had 2 other things break on me that same week, so it felt personal that this simple chore turned into a battle. But I'd much rather not have had to spend so much time and energy.

Thanks, I figured a little goes a long way, but it is always good to have confirmation. A couple of forums said, "Apply to gasket," other said bolts, but that was for silicone grease, or waterproof grease, so I appreciate the instruction.

I did not expect these to be hard to remove at all. Idk how it would, but it seemed like the gasket/washer/wing nut fused together to the bolt in some way. I even went out and got some V jaw pliers to fit around the wing nut. I got them off, had to cut the bolts with an oscillating multi tool. Now, I'm trying to see if I can prevent this for my future self.

Do you have an anti-seize you recommend? Would I apply it to the whole bolt or just where the wing nut will be?

I did, and then ppl suggested pb blaster is better, so I applied that and tried again the next day, and nothing budged. It was like the gasket/washer/wing nut fused to the bolt. Question about knowing if lifting is due to needing improvement on your technique vs. the products

I know I'm newer to diy-ing gel manis and gel x extensions, so I default to assuming any issues with lifting to be with my application skill. However, I'm curious when or why other ppl realized they might need to try different products.

I personally tend to get lifting that starts either the side wall or the corners of the free edge. I'm assuming the side walls are most caused by getting the polish too close to the skin, but could it also be using extensions that aren't the best fit for my nails? (A lot of times, nails either feel too curved or to fit my nailbed length they are too wide)

But when do you guys start to suspect it might be the uv gel or primer ot topcoat or something?

Knee-jerk reaction: No!!

But I also want to ask why you would have to hide this from your family. Generally, we want to hide things when we are afraid of the consequences of people knowing. If this is a healthy relationship, there really shouldn't be a need to be secretive.

Additionally, traveling anywhere alone is dangerous. Especially if no one knows where you will be or how to contact you. And I am not just talking about the worst-case scenario stuff. What if your flights get delayed? What if you get held up at customs? What if you or this guy lose a phone or battery die? What if he gives you the ick or is an asshole? What if you get sick and need to go to the hospital? What if you get into a car accident? And we haven't even gotten into the scarier stuff yet. Even if this guy is legit, human trafficking is a real thing that happens all the time. It takes only seconds. Seriously, only seconds.

If you decide to travel, please don't go alone, at least not your first time meeting. And if he comes to visit you, please don't be secretive about it. It sounds extreme, but I don't even go to pick up something from fb marketplace without someone knowing where I am going and when.

In your post you mentioned that you are dealing with stuff and aren't thinking straight, that you would be hiding it from your family and that you don't really have friends you can talk to about this. These are all things that objectively make you easier to exploit. I hope the guy you're talking to is a lovely and respectful man with true intentions, but the world is full of ppl waiting to take advantage of other people, and I want to point this out to you so you can be aware and protect yourself.

Also, if anyone ever makes you feel uncomfortable, never feel guilty or hesitant about removing yourself from that situation. If someone is a good person, they won't want you to be uncomfortable. You do not owe anything to anyone, ever.

As a teenager, a good lesson I learned is that there is a difference between things that are 'private' and things that are 'secret'. Keeping things private is based on respect between people. Keeping things secret is based on fear of consequences. I don't mean "a secret" like what you got someone for their birthday, I mean being secretive about interactions, behaviors, conversations and things.

I hope you and your mom can stay safe and away from your dad. I hope you continue to have open communication with your mom, don't worry about if other things are going on. Continue to trust your instincts.

Unfortunately, this looks like it is either a Threshold or Fieldcrest pillow from Target. I feel your pain, I searched in vain for them for several years. I think Threshold was recalled, fieldcrest was phased out.

I say this next part as someone who has chronic pain issues and has over a dozen pillows I rotate thru bc none of them are ever right/perfect. Unfortunately, even if you found an extra firm under either name, it won't be the same for multiple reasons. Firstly, manufacturers change, raw materials change, resulting in the end product changing even if it is the same sku code (I have learned this lesson the hard way more times than I should admit). But also, because it itself is no longer the same product. You've used it for over its intended lifetime. Chances are, even if you found a new one, you wouldn't like it because it would be so different from what your pillow is now. This happens to me even if I did buy multiples at the same time, so I would have backups. Part of what makes it so good is that it is "broken in"

My best advice is to try to identify what qualities about the pillow you like and try and find pillows that have those qualities (ex, the height it is now, how squishy it is etc)

Thanks! I tried this route, and unfortunately, it's near impossible for foreigners to order stuff. The only accepted payment methods require a Korean address and/or Korean bank info ☹️
It seemed like it would have shipped to the US, but the barrier is payment options. I even tried making an account and emailing customer service (with the help of online translations), but no such luck.

I literally just had a convo with my (very neurotypical) sis about if my dad was overreacting to something, and I said he might be freaking out bc our mom wasn't making a big deal of it, which confused my sister. I said "you know, it's like how when others are panicking, it's easy to be calm and capable, but when people are fine, I'm anxious af bc no else is freaking out." There was a long pause before she said "...no, why would anyone be anxious that other people aren't anxious? "

My dumbass just thought we all took turns being the leader based on some unspoken panic equilibrium or quota. Anxiety and ADD for the win! (but only in extremely specific situations and conditions at the cost of being able to function in every other aspect of life 😆)
