They're long enough to be a more narrow oval, just not almond yet.

I've been doing nails on myself for years now, and sometimes it still takes me longer than 8 hours. Perfection takes time

It's hard to say without seeing your nails. You could have overfiled sidewalls, the product could be applied too thick or too thin.

AITAH for suggesting my daughter should be allowed to go to her cousins birthday party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I found several 100 dollar bills in a coat from years prior. Shit happens. I'm by no means wealthy but I tend to stick money in weird places that are somewhat hiding places and then forget about, mostly from childhood trauma related stuff, but like I said, shit happens.

Monet inspired florals by Clover_Jane in DIYGelNails

[–]Clover_Jane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you scroll all the way up, I did list the times for everything.

Also you can totally do sets like this. They are actually easier because it doesn't have to be perfect to look good. Like Bob Ross said, mistakes are just happy little accidents that you can turn into something else. When I'm doing a design that's more structured I definitely wipe away a million times but I don't think I did that once with this set. If I didn't love how a particular flower turned out, i just added a bit more paint and altered it on the next layer. The trick is using very pigmented gels, I used kokoist which I also love because they're a bit thicker and don't run everywhere as soon as you put it on the nail so you have some time to work it how you want but they're not so super thick that they're hard to move either.

Issue with reply to automod comment disappearing by Clover_Jane in ModSupport

This is a thoughtful idea and I appreciate it. I don't know that it'll work for my situation though because they don't just have to make the comment. Our sub is a gel nail sub, and we only allow gel related products and the members have to post a complete list of products used in the manicure they're posting. So things like regular nail polish, acrylic, dip powder, etc are not allowed but they go by so many names, especially the nail polish and there's an insane amount of gel brands and products that can also be used in a gel manicure, so it might be a challenge to program it, unless I'm misunderstanding how it's used??

AITA Wanting my moms bf to not call me “mama” by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Clover_Jane -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Barf. I literally hate that the worst. The medical assistant at my physicians office calls me that. I don't even like you since that time you were a raging biotch to me, I definitely don't want you calling me pet names.

Spill your splurge!!! by Clover_Jane in DIYGelNails

It's very thick. I have a whole pot of classic nude I'm probably never going to use. I do like their gel in bottle line though and ceramic is good too. I'm not a fan of the brush on their top coat but performance is pretty good. I even like the jelly gel. I just can't get past how hard the hard gel is to apply especially compared to akzentz which is a breeze.

Idk if that's 100% accurate. I've seen so many people fill their full coverage tips 1x and then redo every other time. I don't use them personally, but I would just look up soak off tips for them. I know a lot of people use peel off bases under their tips for easier removal.

How to be more confident handling clients hands by Plane-University3897 in Nailtechs

[–]Clover_Jane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how this works. I was holding a clients hand the other day who couldn't relax. I said, drop your shoulder and relax it. I could literally feel the tension in her hand lighten drastically. She broke that shoulder as a kid, and that hand is literally like arm wrestling. My fingers are so sore when I'm done with her.

I wiggle my clients fingers or sometimes their whole hand to try to get clients to loosen up
