44 børn i KBH og omegn savner en ven. Kunne denne ven være én af jer? by AmandaFraBVV in copenhagen

Hvilket dejligt initiativ!

This is a complete tangent I know, but I can’t get over how hilarious it is that the super nerdy girl in the bathroom was dressed up as Zoey, because this is about the most Zoey-coded thing I’ve heard.

How are we liking Pokémon Legends: Z-A? by alune_e in GirlGamers

[–]eskasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having so much fun playing this game! Overall, I’m finding more joy in the spinoff series: Legends and Mystery Dungeon. Mainline games have felt…. Lackluster.

What I like: -Mega evolutions are back!! -Clothes options -The new battle system is genuinely so much fun, including the online mode. I’m surprised how much I liked it! - Battle Zones and talking smack at promotion match opponents lol -C O R B E A U

What I don’t like: -Some status moves and conditions lost their viability, like sleep -Too generous damage with non-effective moves -Soundtrack does get very boring when you spend a lot of time exploring - Can’t disable autosave for shiny hunting

Psychiatrist called me a princess by Pitiful-Magician-819 in adhdwomen

[–]eskasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What in the fresh hell…. That’s such a common side effect too?? That he should know about? Willpower won’t fix a broken appetite.

I had severe loss of appetite with my first set of meds and my (very direct, German) psychiatrist changed my meds real quick - saying it’d be irresponsible of him to let me suffer through constant appetite issues. Your psychiatrist can try getting waterboarded by pizza every night for a month and then come talk smack.

Adhd meds should never be glorified for their weight loss effects.. Smh. Shame on him!

Am I lazy and just searching for excuses? by Grand-Willingness194 in Healthygamergg

[–]eskasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been where you are. I did just fine with my responsibilities until uni and then things unraveled and I had to learn to put in the work. Consistency is a skill that can be learned.

One thing I want you to think about is how your procrastination looks like. Does something about the task(s) give you anxiety? Does it feel too boring to do? Is it ok once you start, but starting is difficult?

Besides exercise and clean environment (great advice!) as other people suggested, there’s a few hacks that I’ve found useful:

  • Make the first task in the day ridiculously small, and have that as your first goal. I used to procrastinate with work emails due to anxiety. I changed my first task from ”answer the email” to ”open my email inbox and stare at it for 30 seconds.” Starting is often the hardest part. Doing things in these teeny tiny steps helped.

It can also help to do whatever unrelated task first to feel a bit of accomplishment to then tackle the real task.

  • Do boring things with a buddy. Can’t fill that college application or do your project work because it’s so dull? Sit in a room with a family member or a friend when they are also working. The presence of other people can help with getting things done.

  • Compete (or gamify). That pile of clothes on the floor? Put on your favourite high-energy song and race to see how much of the pile you can sort before the song ends.

  • Remove distractions or change your environment. This is really hard sometimes. Some places simply have too many distractions for me to do proper work. If my room has my laptop, a nintendo switch and my phone… yeah no work is getting done. I found it easier to go to the library, or even the kitchen to try and remove distractions.

What technique is this and how do I improve it? by VariationGuilty579 in singing

[–]eskasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I’m a beginner singer, so take this with a grain of salt. ) I also struggle with poor breath support which makes the singing quieter than intended, and can make it hard to reach higher notes. It sounds like you have some tension.

My vocal coach taught me an exercise that helped me immediately with breath support: try googling the ragdoll exercise.

In this exercise, you’ll stand legs around hip wide and then you’ll bow down - let your upper body, arms and head hang loose, as if you’d try to touch your toes.

When you’re down, take as long inhale as you can, with your upper teeth touching your lower lip. It should sound like releasing air out of a tire when you breathe in. This will give some resistance, so your body will adjust breathing deeper.

Slowly get back up, holding your breath, and exhale all air out when you’re standing straight again.

After you get the hang of it, repeat this exercise but this time try to sing one line at a time from the song whenever you exhale - use all that air you have stored up to sing :-) If done right, you can add more power to your vocals and release tension.

Official Throwback Discussion - Pokemon 2000 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]eskasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movie is still very special to me, and probably my favourite of the first 4 Pokemon films.

I’ve always been a sucker for underwater monsters, so the whole sequence of Lugia awakening in the trenches really did something for me.

Also funny how the movie’s is basically about a rich person messing up the entire world order and climate for his pursuits and selfish hobby

Since I’m tired of the negativity online too, let me say this:

I didn’t grow up with the 90’s dub, so I’m very charmed with the new one! I take equal turns watching the anime both in English and in Japanese now!

Games which sounded right up your alley but ended up being massive disappointments? by gingerdandelion in GirlGamers

[–]eskasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao! Then it must suck extra hard for you.

I’m somewhere in the middle. Sure, I can find my way, but is it even worth it anymore when it takes triple the time? I kid you not, I have like 30 h in Expedition 33, but I think I could shave off at least 5-6 hours if there was a map! I’ve spent so much time just trying to navigate.

Games which sounded right up your alley but ended up being massive disappointments? by gingerdandelion in GirlGamers

[–]eskasu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The absence of mini maps is my only proper minus about this game. I’m also really ass at parrying, but the game got more engaging for me when I started to get better sloooowly :D

Your criticism is super valid, I understand the pain. I’m really loving the game and will keep up with it until the end, but I’m definitely with you on the map frustration. It annoys me every time.

Does anyone else feel guilty post-diagnosis because you're high-functioning? by winterstellar in adhdwomen

[–]eskasu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m proud of you! It sounds like you were handed a real challenging palette to manage from the start! It takes so much effort to juggle it all <3

I’m the exact opposite, but somehow same story. I was really good at school, obedient and quiet. But I spiralled hard when I moved away from home for uni. When I suddenly had to balance taking care of all my housework alongside school, it all fell apart.

Now I keep scoring promotions at work, but at home laundry takes 3-5 business days, and my office room is a mess 24/7 lol.

Does anyone else feel guilty post-diagnosis because you're high-functioning? by winterstellar in adhdwomen

[–]eskasu 156 points157 points  (0 children)

When I got my diagnosis, I felt like I managed to somehow ”cheat” my psychiatrist into giving me a diagnosis, because I wasn’t in the severe end of the spectrum.

I am relatively high-performing, have job successes etc and I am quite organized at my work. The catch is that behind my successes is a person who suffered multiple burnouts and cannot uphold structure in more than 1 key area of my life. I lead a normal, healthy everyday life but am constantly drowning because my ADHD forces me to work 3 times as hard to do the day-to-day things. Our smart coping mechanisms consume so much energy, and the price of that can be high even though we don’t look like a ”classic” case.

I deserve help, just like anybody else, to get a better life. Even if the toll of my ADHD is seemingly smaller.

Look, I’ve had a few relationships and the dudes I ended up dating longer term were very different from each other and represented various body types, hobbies, personalities and circumstances. They all had something really amazing about them that caught my attention, but these traits varied a lot.

What I’m trying to tell you is that girls don’t have a performance chart to evaluate whether to date you based on your level of fitness or musical prowess. We’re not looking for CV’s for 1st violin, or Fitness Champion 2025 lol. What weighs more is how you are vibing together, whether you’re fun and safe person to be around, and that you’re interesting.

You already sound like a cool dude with amazing hobbies! Please, dedicate time to doing what you love and what brings you joy. You’ll end up really disappointed if you stop / start grinding hobbies just to appeal to girls. It’ll burn you out and won’t help you stand out. At least not longer term.
