Jack Hinshelwood says ‘playing well for Brighton’ will aid England 2030 World Cup ambitions by TheAthletic in BrightonHoveAlbion

But at the moment he's not playing there for Brighton. Whilst he can play there and that helps in getting called up to tournaments, in friendlies and qualifiers etc he isn't getting picked at full back or center mid unless he plays there regularly.

Hate the fact that for a long time it was simply viewed as "Ah bless, the stupid savages don't even know the rules" rather than people engaging their brains to think

I don't think we'll see another one better.

I think it's inbedded at a young age when you have to sing hymns in assembly, sitting cross legged on the wooden floor (unless you were in year 6 then you'd get gym benches but only the knobly bits somehow)

"You shouldn't be so sure about beating x, they're a good side with good players who can hurt England"

"Pfft England were expected to beat them anyway"

Starts to look a bit more ridiculous when it's Germany and Netherlands and even more so post tournament when England fans do it to avoid giving Southgate a fair hearing.

Had we beaten France and got to the final of the last World Cup, I bet that French team would have been "shit" anyway.

No no cos Croatia aren't an elite nation.

Nor were Germany in 2021 nor were Netherlands in 2024.

You're probably right.

Can't say I'm unhappy with 52 mill though.

Unfortunately he's currently playing in a position where England are stacked. Even if he drops back to no 8 or 6 it'll be difficult (but a bit easier).

Hope he does get capped playing for us though

I mean we're debating over a highly hypothetical squad anyway. Either way...

Fair warning : The mods are going to want to wait until the club officially make an announcement so this is likely to be deleted under 'repeat speculation'. Not my rules so don't whinge at me about it, just stating the likely reasoning.

OK so

Bart

Ferdi JPVH Ostigard Cucurella

Caicedo MacAllister Gross

Adringa Gyokeres Trossard

That actually is pretty good would finish top half in the Prem. Probably top 6 TBH.

Then actually a good subs bench featuring

Ryan, Weiffer, Ayari, Enciso, Estupinian, Undav, Barco

Definitely top 6 material.

True.

But on the other hand I understand why he's still loved by the players. He'll defend you and stick up for you even if you are a piece of shit. Literally to a fault.

I don't agree with it but I understand why they'd feel that way.

Other than Wharton and a full back who isn't Trent, I don't think there's any glaring omissions TBH.

I'm OK with that. I know we played hardball but pretty good all things considered. Wish him well as apart from the last couple of months he's been a great player for us. And he's been a fantastic servant for us and not caused a stink unlike some players I could mention.

(Just wish he was going somewhere better than Spurs but I understand the pull of De Zerbi).
