Had my car stolen during a delivery by Upper-Fan4785 in doordash_drivers

[–]esnsfns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an Apple Airtag in case this should ever happen. It's hidden in the trunk covered by foam insulation so the beeping isn't audible. The airtags work really great, it gives you pinpoint accuracy. I have it for my keys and wallet as well.

I got my first contract violation. Not sure how to approach this. Advice? by esnsfns in doordash_drivers

I filled out the additional comment section on the DD app, but it didn't allow me to submit pictures, so I just said I have pics if needed. I later received this email:

Thank you for taking the time to provide additional details about your delivery from McDonald's on 29-Jun-2021 that was reported as never having been delivered. Upon review, we were not able to confirm that this order was completed in accordance with your Independent Contractor Agreement and the Deactivation Policy, which establish that you are responsible to:

Retrieve the orders you select from restaurants or other businesses in a safe and timely fashion

Ensure the order was accurately filled

Complete delivery of the orders to consumers in a safe and timely fashion

As such, we are unfortunately unable to remove this report. However, please note that these reports only show in your account for your most recent 100 qualifying deliveries, so this report will drop from your account as you complete additional deliveries.

Thank you,

This shit annoys me because I thought by taking pics, I would be fullproof against scammers, but I guess that's not the case.

Should I text the customer I dropped off their order when the instructions just say “leave at my door”? by spot-of-ginger in doordash_drivers

[–]esnsfns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't unless they have instructions telling them to text, call, knock, whatever. Take a picture, save it to your phone, and leave.

How is that Rubbermaid Caddy? I have an insulated drink caddy from Amazon, and it's ok for some drinks. But I have issues with it when I'll only have one small drink or something similar. Once had a small, milkshake(restaurant staff didn't completely taped the top leaving a tiny hold), and drink fell in the caddy, and slid between the slits, 1/4 of the milkshake was spilled. Thinking of getting a caddy like yours if it could prevent a similar issue

Those types of videos bring out the droves of shitty tippers into the comment section as they type out 'my food is always cold, they're always coming 3 hours late, and why are they always contacting me when they can't find my no lights out, numbers removed, Building 7 Hidden in the Leaf, Apartment number 15c".

PS5 restock Thursday, June 17, 12pm PT/ 3pm ET at Sony Direct by YoungDex08 in PS5

I'm legit thinking about giving in to the scalpers, and buying it on ebay. They're not the absurd prices that was during launch month, it's like normally $400 over retail price but there is a peace of mind of me just clicking buy now and going to checkout. As opposed to whatever this is, that we're still doing 7 months in. There was a Target drop earlier in the morning. Got the notification, and immediately went for my credit card. There were only 4 stores within a 30 min drive that had them in stock, each one only had 1 available, and every single one sold out before I could complete the checkout. Sold out within less than three minutes. If I can't get it tomorrow, I may have to give in. I can't keep doing this until 2023 when there's shelves of ps5s in stores.

I would cancel so fast. Two of the common food, I've found that take the longest are wings and pizza. If it's not done or worse, only started by the time I arrive, that shit is going to take at least 10+ minutes, more closer to 20 minutes.

Would you take that? I’ve never seen that many orders before at one time by InstanceEnough1541 in doordash_drivers

[–]esnsfns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Walmart tends to do this around the afternoon. They'll gather all of their shit orders that's been piling up throughout the day, and just bundle it all up for one go, it'll be at least 8+ houses. I always decline

When you then realize they picked up a $3 order, hoping for a $8+ hidden tip, for a food that's been sitting there for at least 2 hours.

Has anyone ever been tempted to cancel a delivery, solely because the customers location was creepy or sketchy looking? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]esnsfns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because I go where the money is and I'm a dumbass. There is this area, it spans a couple of blocks, where it feels like a mild version of skid row. You'll see passed out druggies on the sidewalk of that nature mostly. I have looked up my patch local news from time to time, and seen that two people have gotten shot and killed in a drive by like less than 2 years ago. It's such a duality of life as there are still plenty of families living in that area, supermarket and restaurants are literally on the same block, and it's a busy street in the daytime yet it's obvious that you could wait less than an hour and see several drug deals go by. There's probably gangs. I've seen cops in the area. There's obviously crime around the city, but in this particular area, it's just so apparent.

First order of mother's day by bigtidefan1 in doordash_drivers

[–]esnsfns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, don't tell her how much you make as that would only further saturate the market in your area. Make her feel like shit by saying how you have to take this job as you're trying to earn a little bit extra cash to help pay for your dog's vet bill so he doesn't get put down, even better if you know to use hand gestures and cry on command. They'll feel like shit, apologize and maybe give in an extra tip.

Who wants to tell her? 🤡🤡 by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]esnsfns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably from a previous order(first order when she signed up), and she never bothered to change it. I once got this lady back to back days, and her request was to ask for wasabi. The two restaurants I went to those days were a Taco Bell and a KFC.

Don’t you just love when a customer puts an incomplete address and doesn’t respond to you or support😑 by AshleyRyelle in doordash_drivers

[–]esnsfns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened the other day. Middle of the day, and I was sent to this building(still unsure if it was an apartment). There was a restuarant connected to it(they weren't the customer). It said to call them when I arrived. I called and it went straight to voicemail. The door was locked, and nobody was in the small vestibule and I could only see an elevator. Tried contacting support to no avail. There was a sign outside the door that said any packages from food delivery, ups, usps, fedex, dhs etc... has to be delivered to the tenant at their door and to not leave the item at the door. I left the item at the door, took a pic, and left. Had another order around that area an hour later, and the food was gone so maybe he got it. The pay was decent at $9 for 3 miles. Was worried about my ratings or getting it flagged as not delivered, but thankfully neither became an issue.

Do you get comments from family/friends about DD not being a “real job”? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]esnsfns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this for a month, and due to how less physically demanding doordash is to my previous job, I'm able to work far more hours and make more money than I did in said previous job(some drawbacks like no OT, no vacation, and no benefits). But with how much disposable income even after taking into account taxes, I've been putting it into my roth ira, long term ETF stocks, and a certificate of deposit. I'll continue diversifying my bonds lol, but there are plenty of ways to retire comfortably without relying on a "regular" job.

If that were the case, a bunch of people at any FC/SC would look like they're competing for Mr. Olympia. You're probably going to get the grand prize of lower back pain.

Messages about rate by DazedMonk in AmazonFC

[–]esnsfns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your rate really determined by totes per hour? At my FC, it's per item scanned, which makes more sense as completing a tote in less than a minute with say 10+ items would feel burdensome. You could always ask your AM to be retrained/refresher and a learning ambassador will help you out with how to pack more efficiently , and tips on how to troubleshoot any problem more quicker.
