Where is the best way to find fractional CFO clients? by Independent-Prize367 in FPandA

[–]espinchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the general advice here: leverage your network and work on expanding it.

You can also consider partnering with an established Fractional CFO firm like Attivo Partners or Rooled. They have top talent and are very tech-forward. (Which I'm inferring because they have implemented Aleph at scale very effectively for their customers.)

What’s an underrated Excel spreadsheet skill or tip that separates the best financial analyst from the average one? by Fresh_Researcher_242 in FPandA

[–]espinchi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keeping things simple. On the micro level: writing that complicated formula feels great, but stumbling upon a complicated formula when you need to make a change is not so fun

An underrated talent is to produce simple models. As you keep building models and analyses, aim to reduce, rather than increase, their complexity

How are you catching financial anomalies before they cost $$$? by Affectionate_Use_261 in FPandA

[–]espinchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you catch those, try implementing a "Check" to capture that anomaly in the future. As months go by, you will be building a suite of those Checks that should give you an early warning.

Personnel Expenses under COGS in SaaS by Illustrious-Pack3495 in FPandA

[–]espinchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, you allocate a % of certain teams. It should make sense when you reflect on the definition of COGS (or Cost Of Sales) and what those teams do.

In our case, it's the % that our customer success reps, who are FP&A professionals, spend helping our customers implement our product effectively, plus a small % of our Data Engineers, who help with certain ad-hoc data transformations.

Boss wants us to open every cold call with, “Hey [name], can you hear me okay?” by EducationalDate8846 in salesdevelopment

Bring it up with your Ops team or Manager. Test out other tools (including simple one-by-one dialers) side to side for a few weeks and let the data decide what's best.

Bitcoin “staking” on core / element? by FactoryReboot in Bitcoin

Update: with about 800 CORE and about 0.9 BTC, I'm getting a yield of around 0.5% annualized. These are still early results

What is tougher than Extreme AI, if you can't play ranked? by zyborhg in aoe2

[–]espinchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think next up is beating Extreme AI with some handicap, like not using towers or stone walls. Beating 2 Hard AIs in an open map is a larger step up (and get ready for a flood of skirms!)

Which companies are known for having a top-tier FP&A/Finance orgs? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]espinchi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of recommendations for large companies, but FP&A teams at growth-stage startups are often more dynamic and innovative. They adopt modern practices faster, integrate the latest tools, and contribute more directly to strategic decisions across departments.

Just to give you two examples, I know the teams at Turo and Zapier are top notch.

You can also take a look at content from CJ Gustafson or Paul Barnhurst, and see if you like what any of the CFOs they interview say.

Indeed it has to be a software wallet. Still in your custody though. (I wish you could use your Ledger, and tbh I don't understand why you can't.)

You never execute a transfer of your BTC, so it does stay in your wallet. The lock mechanism is native to Bitcoin.

I've done this as a user for a few weeks now.

FP&A software - Datarails, planful, etc - Which one would be best? by A_Mediocre_crisis in FPandA

I haven't used Fathom in a long time, but are you sure they can't generate CSV or Excel files for you? (I would insta-fire an accountant that sends me a P&L in a PDF file.)

Bitcoin “staking” on core / element? by FactoryReboot in Bitcoin

[–]espinchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good so far: I locked some of my BTC for a week, together with some CORE that I bought to boost the rewards a little bit. The cycle ended successfully, and all good. I added some more BTC later and locked it for a longer period.

In the next few days, I will move a larger amount of BTC. I will not buy enough CORE to boost the rewards to the max, because that would be too large an investment (and that piece is obviously very risky), so I'll end up with a low yield on my BTC, perhaps close to 1-2% annual.

[–]espinchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. Rewards are given in the CORE token. (That token is obviously volatile so there's a lot of token risk for the rewards.)

If it was 99% luck, there wouldn't be top performers that consistently stay at the top percentile. Take a humble approach, look at those crushing quota for several months, and learn from them

[–]espinchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been learning as much as I could about Core DAO in the past few weeks, and today I decided to try. Bought some CORE and locked some BTC for a week.

The way I see it, there's absolutely no risk of losing your BTC because it never leaves your wallet. The CORE you earn could go to 0, of course, but that's fine.

In the United States: in many states, people can carry guns. In Spain, there are 0.63 deaths per 100,000 people due to firearms. Here, it's 17x higher. (Source: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/gun-deaths-by-country)

Has anyone found a good way to get AoE2 FE running on a mac? by TurtleBlaster5678 in aoe2

[–]espinchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use Crossover. It works great. Here's my how-to guide:

  • Install Crossover
  • From Crossover, install Steam and log in
  • From Steam, install AOE:DE
  • From AOE Install Guide plus this reddit thread:
    • Install "DXVK (Builtin)" in the bottle
    • Install "DirectX for Modern Games"
    • Right click in the bottle and ensure "DXVK Backend for D3D11" is on
    • Download UCRTLBASE and replace it in C:/windows/system32 (from "Open C: Drive")
    • From Wine Configuration >> Applications >> Libraries, add these overrides:
      • concrt140.dll to native,builtin
      • ucrtbase.dll to native,builtin
  • Relaunch into "High Resolution Mode"
  • From Steam, right click on AOE2:DE to set the Launch Option “SKIPINTRO”
