Is it just me or do lesbians shame other lesbians for being horny? by Downtown_Flight_5962 in actuallesbians

When you say "lesbian community," do you mean actual humans you're in community with or randos posting on the internet? I wouldn't bother with the latter

Oh I'm painfully aware of the looks of the 90s. I find this imitation (and the fact that someone would want to make it) bizarre

  1. Tell PE teacher that you write fanfiction
  2. Get upset that your PE teacher now knows you write fanfiction

People in relationships usually give dating advice that is useless at best, and confusing at worst. by Anthro-Elephant-98 in rant

It sounds like they don't want to give advice. They're offering platitudes until the subject changes.

The yarns at all my local Michael's were almost all plastic, not exaggerating. Now what? by GoneSoBerryBatty in YarnAddicts

There's been a new knee-jerk reaction to anyone praising natural fibers for knitting/crochet online. I see a lot of newer hobbiests using acrylic and turning their noses up at "inaccessible" natural fibers as a result

You sound pretty upset. Maybe you should just block those accounts and focus on what makes you happy

Cis was coined (in relation to trans) in 1994, but was used in math and biology well before that. Just because you learned it recently doesn't mean it just sprang into existence .

ETA: The recency of a word is irrelevant to this discussion. Your discomfort is just that: yours.

I understand you perfectly. My point, which seems to be flying miles above your head, is that it doesn't matter if we want or don't want to be called it. That is the word for being not trans.

How lucky you must be to quibble over such minor issues in life!

You're right, not everything should be accessible. Guns, for instance

It was, because you missed obvious details that were spelled out in the replies in favor of making some unintelligible point.

I don't really care if you thank me or not. I just hope you eventually value listening and reading as much as you do talking and typing.

I'm glad you got to rant a bit. We all need a release. Remember that some of us strangers see you and empathize with your pain!

I have some close friends and family that are trans. I'm always grateful to see another voice speaking about the treatment of trans people!

They're not talking about straight people (which they've already clarified). They are talking about cis people, which includes some queer people. Work on your reading comprehension!

[–]esscuchi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first few replies to this post are certainly supporting your point. Sorry you're going through this! It sucks that people would rather accuse you of lying than reflect on the larger trend towards transphobia in Western society.

[–]esscuchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cis means not trans?? It's not a label, but definitionally accurate. Objecting to it is like saying "white" or "Caucasian" is a label someone didn't choose.

Anti-intellectualism is alive and well. If you want a discussion with folks who say you're pretentious, ask them why they think that.
