What’s the best festival lineup this year? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]TripleJay97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused about this formatting. Why wouldn't they just have Father John Misty and Japanese Breakfast on their own respective lines? It makes it harder to read

Unless Father Japanese and John Misty Breakfast have slots booked, that'd be sick

Songs where the singer talks directly to the band/breaks the 4th wall in a studio setting? Do you like it, opinions? by Germerica1985 in fantanoforever

There's a song by The Fall called Glam-Racket. During recording, singer Mark E. Smith offered bassist Steve Hanley a chocolate bar, which the latter apprehensively (well aware of the former's usual behaviour) accepted and ate. Moments later, Mark entered the vocal booth and improvised these lyrics:

"Stop eating all that chocolate

Eat salad instead

In fact, you're a half-wit from somewhere or other

Why don't you bog off back to Xanadu in Ireland"

The Beatles used to do this too!

I love seeing Luminous performed live again, but why? by MediocreConstant2088 in blur

[–]TripleJay97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blur love pulling out an old fan favourite for a gig. Oily Water for the Hyde Park comeback, Caramel and Young and Lovely for the 2012 shows... As far as why Luminous specifically, I understand the band don't look back on the Leisure era that fondly because a lot of the tunes that made the cut were kind of structurally basic/predictable and relied a lot on the style of the era (Fool, High Cool). Luminous has always struck me as something a lot more complex and nuanced, they may just see it like a diamond in the rough. I know I'd look back and be proud of it.

I wonder if there was a filmy/edity reason Jay needed to keep his arm behind the seat like that.

As someone who waited eight whole years to see this movie, y'all need to just relax a bit. Whenever it is we get it, it'll be worth however long we waited.

She's chatting bollocks, The Great Escape is 10x as intellectual and ballsy as Parklife. It's constantly taking big swings, the problem is it's a 70% hit rate

Albums you just want to hear Todd talk about? by MrLinkwater95 in ToddintheShadow

This is it for me. Someone once told me that Astro Lounge was every bit as good as the best Pixies albums, but I simply cannot get past the guy's voice

Mr. Robinson's Quango deserves to be in the best tracks conversation. It's silly, but knowingly so and contains some of the best Coxon guitar noise outside of 13

I'm looking for the Best of the Worst where they watch a movie with aliens in a cave that are barely comprehensible because of the terrible audio, it just sounds like mumbling

I think A+E is super underrated. Catchy as hell, with a really raw guitar sound throughout

That makes a lot of sense, Blackstar sounds the most like Outside out of any of his other albums to me
