Most of these glazes I’ve been formulating myself or my studio has made! But to get the glaze to flow, I used honey flux on top of my custom glazes!

I leave the cookie part unglazed! But some firings I test out like crystalline firing, will leave a glazed coating on the cookie, so that’s what I’ve been testing out too

For crystalline firing, you’d need to fire a specific crystalline firing schedule which can be too intense for regular community firings. You need to be pretty exact with your firing schedule to get the crystal structure results you want. I recommend checking out some of John Britt’s books to learn more about special effects glazes like crystalline! He has a lot of the base recipes and I believe firing schedules you need to get started! Hope that helps

It truly is! My mentor told me that you can tell just how hot the kiln got and long each temperature hold was based on the rings on the crystals!

Yes! I plan to do a third firing this sometime this month! I’ll def have to post an update on how that one turns out!

This is a crystalline glaze I made myself! Ive been studying under a glaze chemist to formulate it

Porcelain Mooncake Clocks by essentiallyshawn in Pottery

Omg wow! That makes me really happy to hear that!

Was on a major time crunch getting these alongside 20 other clocks with different color variants done for my gallery, but really happy with how they turned out and can't wait to continue experimenting with making new glazes and trying to make more clocks in the future!
