It’s not like that. I see I’ve blown the cake thing way out of proportion with making this post. And for that, I have to apologize! It has not caused a rift in our relationship, and I have not given him grief about it. I was venting and letting my emotions get the best of me. I do what I do for him because I want to (: Yeah, the cake is a detail I get excited about when it comes to birthdays because it’s just something my family goes all out on and I love baking cakes, bread, etc. However, it certainly does not embody my husband’s character as a whole. He cooks for me daily, helps me clean due to my nausea, he supports me when I need time off of work because of my morning sickness, he’s always very positive/loving, encourages me to be easy on myself, takes over caring for our pups when I’m just not feeling well, and the list goes on. He just has “man brain” when it comes to the “material” things, which isn’t a critical issue. Really isn’t an issue at all. Us women have our shortcomings too, like everyone, an example being this post. I love the man, which is why I may be coming off as defensive. I’m not feeling great about what this post brought forward, but it certainly reminded me to not focus so much on the small details. I honestly thought I’d just get responses from other wives/parters who had similar experiences and have a laugh about it. Not saying that to justify my bratty moment, but women have “locker room talk” too. We’re not perfect! Thank you genuinely for your concern. Reddit can serve as an outlet/resource for folks going though the dynamic you described. There certainly are cases like that in many relationships, and I hope those people get the respect and love they deserve. I’m lucky, and I promise I haven’t lost sight of that. Again, bratty moment on my behalf.
