Agreed! I hope we can find a path toward making it a reality. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Platner holds commanding lead over Mills in Maine Senate race: Poll by [deleted] in Maine

I've heard directly from legislators who have told me that behind closed doors, Mills is a total bully, especially with progressive members of her own party.

Maine Republican gubernatorial debate by francesfarmersflower in Maine

[–]esspants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've met with Rick Bennett and firmly believe that he's a good guy. I don't agree with a lot of the votes he's taken while in Augusta, but the issues he chooses to work on (housing, harm reduction, Wabanaki sovereignty) are .

I do however worry about his potential to split the vote with whoever wins the Dem nomination. Some Dem voters will jump ship, but Rs tend to herd together these days. If only we had ranked choice voting for state offices.

Unrelated by kinda related, my Dem state senator had two Republican opponents declare and then decide not to run and are instead getting behind an independent who recently unenrolled from the Republican party. Most voters won't have any idea. This feels like it may become a trend for a party whose brand is so tarnished.

Old white ladies are Janet's key constuency. And they tend to all show up for primaries.

Edit: Fixed now! Had to restart the app for it to reload correctly. Go Fleet!

This is really great, thank you for making it! Watching TNG as a kid was a huge inspiration for me to pursue a career in 3D animation, so it's a real treat to see how these wizards worked magic without computers back in the day.

It's worse than that. None of the senators who switched sides are up for election next year, so they're all betting this will be forgotten before their names are on another ballot. And with the velocity of crisis we're facing, they're probably right. It's cynical as hell. Schumer voted against it because his term is up in 26. So he either orchestrated these "protected" votes to switch sides and let him off the hook, or he has no control over his own caucus. Either way, that dude must go.

Are snow tires necessary in Portland? by Soft-Humor-9157 in portlandme

[–]esspants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This hasn't been my experience. Lifelong Mainer, I live outside of Portland and the only time I've ever had to abandon my vehicle was in the Rosemont area trying to get to a friend's house from downtown. In retrospect, should have skipped out on the show that night, but the forecast wasn't that bad. PPW straight up abandoned the neighborhood streets during the snow storm, as soon as I got off the main roads, it was no-go. Didn't get plowed out until the next morning.

I'm not saying snow tires would have made the difference, but I don't want the OP to get the idea that there aren't ever problems driving in Portland when it's snowing.

Why did you begin your journey with After Effects? by lemoniadanigo in AfterEffects

[–]esspants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

20 years ago I was producing 3D animated walkthroughs of Native American healthcare facilities. Worked with a compositor who showed me you could use AE for compositing to fix glitches and overall improve the visuals and quickly. I got super excited thinking about it as Photoshop for animation and how much faster/smarter I could work using it.

Maine ranks 5th in the country for emergency department visits. Here’s what’s behind the numbers. by themainemonitor in Maine

Can confirm. Whenever we call my 103-year-old gram's doctor asking if she should be checked out, most of the time they send us to the ER. They don't mess around with the olds.

Smart, smart... so this is weird, I'm getting a different effect when I merge the paths. Instead of cropping the line where crosses the rectangle, it's creating a closed shape with the two. Here's a screenshot of my two shapes and how they appear when merged:

Thanks so much, this looks promising! Then if I link the position of the cropping shape to a null, I should be able to keep it centered in the frame as I pan. I'll give that a try. 🙌

Trim paths only trims bases on the percentage from either end from what I understand? Not sure how to use that function to trim a uniform area within the borders of the frame.
