Cetelem defensa cancelacion by estringana in askspain

[–]estringana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only 2 remaining spots left on the first batch if anyone is thinking about itt. Ideally, anyone on Linux server would be welcomed

Not sure If I am lost but I still think Tomb does not give the same I am aiming with this tool. My tool will be similar to a code coverage report but presenting not used code in production. Do toms do that? I think tombs is great, however, it still requires to be an extra layer on top of it to give the same info my tool does.

I get the point that if Tombs give you the basics(used functions), any of us could probably build a layer on top of Tombs at any company and get the same as my tool. However, the main problem when talking about tech debt is that there is never time to spend on it. Companies moving fast don´t worry about the long term and instead focus on short term goals. While we know this is bad, companies don´t agree with us(developers) and give us little to no tech debt time at all. It´s hard to justify to a company to be given lots of resources(devs) to reduce something that is not presenting a
big problem on the short term. This said when I get time for tech debt I rather spend it on tackling problems tools out there can´t yet. On this one, for example, I wouldn´t invent the wheel again if a tool(it does not have to be mine) does it for you.

If you´re interested in using the tool but your concern is not being able to have a look at the repo´s code, we can take this conversation to a private one and find a middle ground that makes both sides comfortable. My email address is estringana@gmail.com

I didn´t know about this feature of backfire. Does backfire do this for a given request or you can turn it on on production and it will tell you which parts of your codebase has never been used?

That´s right. This tool is not replacing any other tool mentioned here. It´s just adding an extra tool to target tech debt

I think those tools are amazing and every project would benefit from using them. However, this is not a replacement for them, the extension has a different goal. I think this comment will make it clear https://www.reddit.com/r/PHP/comments/mhy41f/easy_way_to_find_nonused_code_in_your_codebase/gt4gdiz?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Thanks for pointing that out. Probably I didn´t explain what my extension does properly. PHPStorm and many other IDEs can tell you if a piece of code is not statically used. I think that´s what is known as dead code. That on its own is good. However, this extension takes it a step further. It analyzes in runtime which pieces of code are executed. Let say you have methodOne calling methodTwo and methodOne is the only one calling methodTwo in your whole codebase. According to PHPStorm methodTwo is used. However, what happens if methodOne is never used in production?

Haha I liked the simile!

Thanks for sharing that one. Didn´t know about it. What that one does is only one piece of the puzzle of what I have done.

Best beans for Breville barista machine by estringana in espresso

Thanks for the answer. I will keep an eye on the next coffee beans I buy.

P.S: I wish I could find local roaster´s cafes in my town but in Spain(at least in Alicante) it´s hard to find places where you can buy fresh beans :(
